Archie got bit

My cat, Archie, the one who has had the colitit problems got bit. Aparrently another cat came into the yard (bad mom for not watching him enough) and he got bit in the a**.As if the sores from the colotis weren't enough, this was real disrespect.
I had him on the bed cleaning the wounds and started getting yellow pus out of what I thought was an anal gland.ThenI am yelling for towels 'cause tere is 40 cc. or so of bloody plasma gushing out. When it was all blood I got gauze and applied pressure to stop the bleeding. it seemed it was drained for the most part.Cleaned up after betadine. you could see 2 punceure marks, one much larger than the other...obviously a cat bite. I put a warm compress on and gave him 1/2 mg. valiun. He settled down, found a place by the bed to sleep and we went to the vet in the morning.
Cleaning, antibiotics, couple hots, a,d home to recover. No more outside late at night or without mom. :(

Thanks for the support. You feel so bad when they are hurting and there's not much you can do with it. When the abcess blew it totally freaked me out, but you what you  need to get it done and then  go be sick later.
I try to put warm compresses on 4-5 times a day and he is licking it ( the best thing the vet said)just keep it clean and open and the cat will heal itself.
time to go get a warm washrag...

you are right..my vet said no betadine. I used a very dilute solution, but still, you are right that what goes on goes in :(
Arch is getting warm compresses as often as he will let me...it feels good till it cools off. It is an ugly wound and was horrible draining it . thank goodness for a bit of first aid training.

I don't mean to scare you, but that betadine on a cat's body makes me very nervous.  Ya see, whatever you put on their fur they WILL lick it off!  I would've used peroxide, that's less dangerous.  Not sure if betadine is actually dangerous or not, guess I can look that one up!  Or, if you beat me to it, please post it and let me know.

AAWW I'm so sorry. As if his problems were not enough poor Archie had to deal with a cat biting his butt. While I was reading the second paragraph I was thinking to myself that you probably had taken him to the vet, which you did, and you wrote about it towards the end.

Is the kiddo doing better now? See my heart breaks when my cat cries to go out but then I think of all the things that could happen to him behind my back, I toughen up. You’re not a bad momma. You didn’t do anything wrong. You’re great to Archie. He could not have asked for a better care giver  :)
