Hi there I posted reply a couple of days ago but it didn't work. We took him back to vet and she gave him an anti inflammatory injection and some home treatment. He also had a urine infection and given antibiotic injection as well. Gorby is acting quite normal now and although he is not eating as much as usual,he is eating and drinking. He is also doing poos now. Thanks for your concern and advice.

Unable to open mouth is suspicious to me, sounding like Sepsis, or blood poisoning from infection. As that is what the poison going around does. My female kitten became terrified & wanted to hide also. I happened to find a small hole from incision made when recent de-sexing. You need strong antibiotics or a high dose. I took to Vet & she gave a slow acting injected antibiotic but it wasn't enough, I had to return for more.  You need to act fast or they 'pass out' and coma death.  Being 12 Nov?? My kitten deteriorated over about 4 days. She survived but as I discovered 'small hole' I knew an infection had developed from it. Your boy cat could have a Urine infection through his Urethra or from his Op. In Humans in older times (before penicillin/antibiotics) an infection like this was called "Lock Jaw" because they were unable to open mouth, the same as your cat.

Hi,

Well as long as you are in contact with the vet and he does not show signs of infection at the surgical site, I would think the anesthesia may have whacked him out.  They usually place a tube in the mouth and that be sore for awhile. No kibble just very soft food or Lamb baby food.

If he does not improve by tomorrow please consult with your vet, if you have not already.

Please let us know what happens and Good luck.
