Cat Litter

Okay all you cat lovers, I need help! I currently use Fresh Steps Odor Control for my cat litter. It does great keeping the odors down and all that but it is soooo dusty!! When I wipe my walls, i get the litter dust on my hand. I smell dust in the air and my cat smells like dust once in awhile. I live in a 2 bedroom apartment so my only option is to put the litter box in the bathroom. I tried to put it in the spare bedroom but Miss Liberty did not like that so bathroom it is. I clean it twice a day also. Well my question is, what does everyone else use and is it dusty? Has anyone tried Tidy Cats, Scoop away, etc.. I like the scoopable stuff too... Any input would be great as i don't want Liberty or myself breathing in all that dusty anymore! Thank you!

I ended up getting tidy cats dual power. She is using her box so hopefully she likes it. There is like no dust!! The only thing, the granuals are smaller so I think they are getting stuck to her paw as I have seen her "scratch" the wall next to her box with one paw while covering up her business. Not sure what that's all about?? Hopefully this stuff does the trick.. Fresh steps was really good minus the dust! I was going to mix it but didn't have enough old stuff left so I just changed it to the new stuff but everything that i have read said i shouldn't have done it that way.. Hope I'm not stressing her out!

^^^ I actually used that cat litter from Walmart. While it says "low dust" there is still A LOT! I am not bothered because I change the box outside but I continue to use it because it is cheaper.

Walmart sells a brand that is cheap and low on dust, I think is is called "Special Kitty". When I am low on money, I use that litter in place of the expensive one.

I will also second "World's Best Cat Litter". It's very similar to the arm and hammer one i mentioned above.

I loved World's Best Cat Litter. That is some awesome litter!! It's corn based and nontoxic and has no dust!

Anniebrooke had a great idea to get rid of the dust! I never thought of that!

Hi BigA,

I use LitterPearls  by Ultra Pet. Works great for me and I have dark wood floors that show the least bit of dust. It is a pretty neat product.

I like Arm and Hammer Natural clumping litter. It's made of corn husks. It has a different feel to it and isn't really dusty. It keeps the smell away pretty good too. A good bonus is it's also light weight.

I've done that, poured the litter back and forth a couple of times outside in the wind, to try to cut dust.  I also liked the paper-pellet kind of litter, it seemed a lot less dusty.

We use Tidy Cats, the red label stuff for multiple cats.  It is still a little dusty so we get the big cardboard box to refill the plastic pails.  Pour it from about a foot above the pail, outside when a breeze is blowing, cuts down on some of the dust.
