Please Help. our cat is very sick and no answers.

Hello everyone and thank you in advance for any thoughts, ideas, advice or answers. our cat Hurly is 8-9,years old. He's a minx and we've had him his whole life. he has always been a very energetic cat. always running around and chasing things. and he's also been very loving and affectionate to us. we noticed that he started hiding behind the couch a lot. he would only come out to eat then right back behind the couch. then we noticed when he would walk he looked like he was kinda limping and dizzy looking and would stumble and even fall over a little. we also noticed he was breathing Strang at times. with his mouth partially open. we immediately took him to his vet. the first time she said it was a slipped disc and gave him meds. nothing changed and symptoms got worse. we took him back to the vet and this time she says he has very bad asthma and gives him meds. we saw minor improvement for one day then back to how he was. now he won't go upstairs to use the litter box so we bought him a new one and put it near him but he still doesn't use it and just goes wherever. now here comes the scarey part for us. he has gotten very aggressive. he hisses at us and makes a loud crying meowing sound when he sees us. he has even bit me when I went to pet him one time. people have told me it could be some disc disease but it doesn't really sound lIke that. just yesterday somebody said it sounds like Attica or something like that. we are worried and extremely heartbroken at having to see him like this. it kills us to see how mean he has gotten but know it's his illness that's causing it. I have left similar messages like this on other Web pages and nobody has responded. please hopefully somebody here can point us in the right direction. thank you so much

Hello friends, itso with a broken heart that I say we had to put our Hurly to rest today. he got very bad yesterday where he couldn't walk. the vet said it was def something in his brain. the cost she said could be over 5000 and even then there was no guarantees. he did become loving his last day with us. the vet said he was suffering and I couldn't let him suffer and live like he was. I hope hes looking down knowing we tried and we loved him very much. thank you everyone for reading and helping.

Hello Manco...I'm sorry, I don't have an answer for you, just lending my support.  Reading your story is heartbreaking.  I'm so sorry for the condition of your poor boy.  This kind of sounds like a neurological issue to me.  Hopefully a new Dr can help get to the bottom of this mystery.  Please let us know how it goes tomorrow.

Hugs to you~

Our cat had neurological issues and it turned out she was diabetic, but if yours has had a blood panel done that can't be it or it would have showed up.  I wish you luck.
Thank you.
Thank you.

sorry to hear of your kitty's troubles, did the Vet clinic do xrays to diagnose a slipped disc or was this just a guess? the fact that he is walking strange does appear to be something wrong with his spine but I would want xrays to confirm exactly what the issues are.
the hissing at you and hiding are signs he is in pain. what kind of meds did they give him for this, just pain meds? Do they offer any surgical advice?
sorry we are not Vets on here only pet parents and can only listen and sometimes give suggestions. seems all I have is questions
I hope you find what you are looking for, but IMO this has to be done through a Vet who is ready to do the tests and dx him properly and give you some options...good luck

thank you for responding. any opinions and advice are appreciated. she did do x-rays and also a senior blood panel. but nothing showed. imo I don't like this vet. my sister has had problems with other pets with her. we're taking him somewhere else monday. you feel so helpless when I see him like this and we can't even try to comfort him because he will claw or bite. he walks very slow now and his head shakes a little. like twitches. I've been reading up on that Attica or however you say it and it's sounding like that could be it. it affects his nervous system and motor skills. has anyone had this with a pet or have seen it. once again thank you and please keep them coming.
