Cat scratching head/ears

We recently took in a stray kitten who had fleas, which got onto my older cat, they both had frontline plus spot treatments 2 weeks ago and I treated my house with an igr flea spray, I vacuum thouroughly daily. Ive seen no fleas in the carpet or anywhere else. The younger kitten doesn't scratch at all but ever since I applied the frontline to my older cat he has been scratching more than ever not all day long but he scratches more frequently and has been shaking his ears. I flea comb both cats daily and see no flea dirt or fleas. Recently took the kitten in for first shots and vet said the kittens ears are clean and no mites, she saw to fleas either. My question is, how do I know if this is an allergy or are the fleas hiding on my older cat somewhere? He's a big boy, 16 lbs with thick, long hair, part main coon. Also the kitten and my big boy like to wrestle and play a lot, sometimes the kitten bites his ears, neck and head area. I plan on calling the vet on Monday but until then anyone have any advice?

if you unable to survive a full bath..try wiping him down as much as possible with a wet cloth, don't beat yourself up...we've all erred at times. he needed the treatment however its powerful stuff and has to be used with caution.
get the Vet to check out his ears like Pip mentioned just to be sure....good luck and let us know♥

Thank you both for a quick response! Piparskeggr, I dont see any black, waxy deposits in his ears, just a little wax it looks normal, I plan on taking him to the vet just to be sure though. Opus, I feel terrible I could have caused all of this by using these products. He's 9 and up until now he's never had to have a flea treatment. I doubt I could give him a bath easily, he really hates them, scratches and bites, I usually just brush him daily but I will try. We planned on shampooing the carpets in a few weeks, will try to go it sooner. Thanks again and I'll keep you posted

IMO....your kitty is more than likely having a reaction to all the flea treatments and house sprays..its very likely an allergic reaction to the high use of these chemicals, remember they are strong pesticides.
I would recommend giving kitty a bath to rid him of any residue that may still remain and also shampooing your carpets and anywhere else you've sprayed...
if there are no visible signs of fleas than it has to be an allergic reaction.
I will send you a link to the frontline info and see if there isn't a mention of this on there, but I do KNOW it can happen.

good luck, keep us posted♥

Look in kitties ears, if there are black, waxy deposits, he might have ear mites.

Our Chessie has them and I've been cleaning her ears for awhile now to try and knock them back.
