No. He is an orange and white tabby. I was wondering about those diffuses. Do they really work? Can humans smell them?
No smell to them at all....some people swear by them I can't say I've noticed with mine, but worth a try for yr girl:)
Hi AK,
Sounds like Reese is going through the "Terrible Two's" , LOL!
Do you have a cat tree near a window for him to climb? If not this is his way of telling you to get one.
Cats love to climb to the highest spot , so they can observe their Kingdom from on high. That wall seemed to be the perfect stepping stone for the little Prince to view his land.
So until you get him his very own "mountain" I would just remove all temptation for the time being.
My cat is a female and I have 2 cat tress , at 2 windows , she is perfectly happy to step up to the highest perch and sit for hours watching the world go by.
Perhaps Reese is just tired of looking at the world from the bottom.
If you already have trees for him to climb, then maybe move them to a new spot. Either way right now I would remove all valuables from wall shelves.
As far as him creeping into every door you open....well that is just what cats LOVE to do. Every time I open A door, drawer, dryer ,box---yep Meez is right in there. They have to patrol their kingdom and make sure nothing new has happened since last they checked.
Can not tell you how many times Meez has been left in one of those places for hours.....you would think she would learn----aren't they supposed to be smarter than we humans???
A big smooch to Reese !

I got a diffuser. Its been plugged in for a couple of hours now and he did take a nap. Not sure if that is due to the diffuser or if he was just gonna take one cause of being up most of the night anyway. Time will tell.
CML, he does have a small cat tree....it only is about window sill high cause he broke the top part-he's a big boy...lol BUT, he does regularly go to the top of fridge and the top of my hutch on my desk and both places have been designated for him. AND I should be getting a floor-to-ceiling tree in the next few days. It just depends on how long it takes the lady to bring it.
(((fingers crossed)))
Definitely get a floor-to-ceiling tree, and also some toys. Popular around my house are fur mice (genuine fur, presumably rabbit), these plastic coils that look like springs (wildly popular), a fishing pole with a feather on the end of the line, ping-pong balls, and of course, catnip. This means you'll have to play with him (the fishing pole is a human-feline game, the cat can't do it himself) but he sounds like he needs to be tired out in order not to tear the place apart.
Oh he has toys running out of his ears. Mice, fishinf poles, feathers...plus a couple that are battery operated...trust me he is well occupied....this behavior was bizzare, I would not have posted for just a bored cat. Please believe me.
I knew I was forgetting something....the laser light. That is by far his favorite.
I'm not saying he's bored, am saying that he is not using up his energy. A cat with a lot of energy in a small space will not sleep nicely and hang out, he will climb the walls.
Maybe he needs another cat playmate??What do you thing of that? It would also have to be a young cat with lots of energy, and preferably another male. They could wear each other out and mom could get some rest. I think if you get a kitten he should always have another cat to play with....or mom will get old real fast trying to amuse the little guy.
That energy is not going to abate for a few more years, so you will just have to have bare walls -----no nick-knacks.
Let us know if you figure this out. Perhaps you will need to find a "catnip" dealer to chill him out. You could import it from Maddie the UK Crack dealer, LOL!!!
Just wanted to update y'all. He has not climbed the wall or tried to knock down anything else on the wall. He has still been a pain, but only a few times and it was more at his normal level instead of the frantic state I was seeing the past few days.
I do believe the diffuser is helping!! :-)
Also, the lady came through for me and Reese will have his floor-to-ceiling tree tomorrow!! Yayyy!!
Thank you all for your support! I will keep you posted on how he likes is big tree.
Well, the tree was put up yesterday. Reese LOVED it!! He climbed on it immediately and scratch on 2-3 times. Unfortunately, he was extremely wobbly and Reese is a 14 lb big boy so, it was not going to work. Apparently it had been damaged when the previous owners took it apart or something. My dad is going to attempt to fix it somehow. My dad took the poles but left the shelves and he keeps laying on them and rolling around and laying on them....he loves them so, I hope my dad is able to fix it!!
Also, I do believe the diffuser is working!! He is not frantic like he was those few days so, thank you all who helped with that!!
Hi AK.
I have one of those wobbly cat trees--my cat is only 8 lbs, but I have placed a few bags od cat littler in the base to stabilize it. Still wobbles a bit but Meezy knows it is secure. Sometimes the threads of the screws just can not be tightened enough. . maybe try that if it can't be tightened any better. She uses it everyday and wobbly or not she loves it.
Just sayin!

If the holes are a little loose, put a wooden toothpick in with a dab of wood glue to tighten up the hole.
Tree is fixed and was put up yesterday and he loves it!! LOL-Yesterday I rann the laser light up and down the tree and after chasing it up and down a few times he was pooped!!
Qusestion about the diffuser...I am wondering if it has to stay plugged in 24/7, 365/day. I don't mind it being plugged in but my concern is if he become immune to it over time and no longer be effective? Should I unplug it and only use if and when he needs it or am I suppose to leave it forever?
Ooops...did not mean to select that "best answer"....not that its not a good answer I just didn't mean to...lol
CML that's good and all but Reese doesn't have another cat to play chase with him. The playtime is really not an issue. (I wish y'all would believe me.)
About the diffuser though......does it have to stay the rest of his life or no?
A Friend of mine bought those assorted wood shelves you can get at Bed Bath and Beyond, colored each one a different bright color and her "cat's" , she has three, love racing up and down them on the wall--just another idea to keep our babies occupied so mom can get some rest.
