Does anyone else's cat HUMP things???

Okay, so about a year ago, my cat started this howling thing, associated with kneading a blanket.  He did this when we took him over to the in-laws' for them to cat-sit for a week.  We chalked it up to separation anxiety.

He continued to do this kneading thing when we brought him home again, but it was very occasional.  Now, though, he isn't just kneading anymore - he's also trying to hump (I only know this because I disturbingly saw his wee wee one day while he was doing it), and he does it daily.  He howls while doing this, and he tends to go for t-shirts, or stuffed animals. He's already shredded a few stuffed animals while doing this.

Is there anything I can do to stop this behavior?  Or do I just have a horny cat?!?

i have a four year old tabby who does this as well. he was fixed as a kitten and we will do it to my robe, my arm (he gets in alot of trouble for that one) as well as our one year old girl kitten (alot of trouble for that one too). But he acts the same way as some others have been saying. He gets stiff and very focused. I have been wondering the same thing about if there is something to do or if he is just horny? He has been doing it for a few years now and nothing has changed.

My cat does the same thing.  He was neutured as a kitten and is now 6 years old.  He just recently started this.  He will do it to clothes, blankets and stuffed toys.  It has become a nightly thing with his blanket that he sleeps on (which is on my daughters bed).  He grabs a piece of the blanket in his mouth and starts pawing at it and making a growling noice.  He becomes very obsessed while doing this and I'm almost afraid to touch him because he becomes so focused and tense while doing this.  Quite creepy!

Heh heh... at least he isn't going after the other cats. Now THAT's just disturbing to watch.

Yeah....he is fixed already, that's why this is all so strange.  I tried hiding the things he was going for, but he somehow figured out how to open the closet door, and he dragged clothes out of the laundry from there!

I guess it's just a freak thing that we will have to deal with.  Thanks for the advice anyway!

Well, get him fixed is one way.

But i've got a fixed cat that has developed an unhealthy sexual interest in a few o the stuffed animals my wife has.

My answer was to put the stuffed animals on a shelf kitty couldn't reach. :)

Seriously, about the only thing you can d is take away the objects kity is obsessing on and hope for the best.
