Feral

Someone at work has been feeding a feral and since I did not want to see her have kittens I trapped her and had her spayed on Monday.  She is about 6 or 7 months old.  My plan was to trap and release (my fist experience doing this) but a friend said if I could tame her she would take her to PetSmart and try and get her adopted.  She loaned me a very large cage the cat has adapted to very well.  She hisses when I put my hand in but does not try and bite or scratch me.  I know she does not seem adoptable yet because of the hissing but I am getting attached to her.  I hate to dump her back at work but I don't want anymore animals I am gone alot and stress too much.  I know I have to do something quick and I am torn.

I need all the info I can get from anyone.  I have to make a decision this week.

I would just set her free. If there are no rescue groups in your area, and the cat is already used to living free, you can just go ahead and let her go. You already did your part: You Spayed her, which is so important!!! She managed to survive before. Cats are smart, and her wild nature is bigger than her "pet" nature.

You would not be dumping her. You'd be giving her what she deserves: Her Life Back.

This is tied to the other post you put up-

Your best bet is to contact a foster group. See if there is one in the area. They people in these groups are willing and able to put in the work needed to cope with a feral.

Keep in mind this is no slur on you. Working with ferals is HARD, and takes a lot of time and energy that people sometimes just don't have.

Admitting you aren't able to do this is a responsible action on your part (if this turns out to be your decision).
