Azodyl and Epakitin for 9 yr old CRF cat. Am I doing this right?

My 9 yr old flame point, Monkey, was diagnosed in February with kidney failure. I put him on Azodyl, he was doing great till about a week ago. I read about Epakitin and ordered it. I just got it today. I'm afraid to do any big changes but I gotta do something! Monkey is going down hill fast! Do I just go for it and start him on the Epakitin along with the Azodyl? Can't afford a vet visit right now...

I don't know about the Epakitin, all I can say that if mine, I would immediately switch to 'distilled' water, if he will drink. Too many minerals in regular water IMO.  Distilled is all I give mine.
