Hey all;
Thought I'd turn my sadness from losing Kessie, Chessie and Hildie in the past 2 years to positive action.
The older kitty is Holly and the kitten is Charity. I am one of their sponsors. They live at Blind Cat Rescue and Sanctuary, Inc. in North Carolina.
Holly was surrendered by her people at age 11 to a local shelter, a rescue was going to pull her until tests showed her FeLeuk positive. By way of another rescue, BCR took her, health complications had damaged her eyes, so they were removed. Holly is described as a very sweet, loving older kitty (she's 14 now). I think she look likes our Silver Kestrel, if Kessie had been a long haired tortie.
Charity was rescued a couple months ago by a friend of BCR from the front porch of a fellow who hated cats. Her eyes were in bad shape and she has just had the final surgery to close up the eye sockets. In the videos from the room in which she now lives with other cats, what an active kitten who does not know she is blind.
I'm sponsoring them in memory of all our kitties who had a good home and people who cared for them.
As some may realize, I belong to a non-mainstream religion, which is a modern revival of the pre-Christian ways of my northern European ancestors. One of our Heathen guideposts is, I believe, sharing what you have in excess of caring for Kin, Kith and self with the broader community in some way that helps. These kitty girls are one of my projects.
