That story about Lightening was a real heartwarmer....thank you! I guess you just never know. It's been 5 long weeks now. Her mother lives here, so I can't really imagine her just wandering off. I will always have hope. Thanks again!
Here is a good news story for you from the Canadian news Canoe;

I'll keep praying. And, hopefully if your little kitty is lost, she is being well cared for by someone! I do think cats are very clever and can conserve their energy well too and they would totally find water or eat a rodent or bird to keep alive & their system moist. You'd think if another animal got her, you'd find "something". Awful thought though! Maybe one of these days you'll just find her at your doorstep! I'd be totally devastated to lose a pet! I do think God knows, though, how much we care for our pets and I'm certain he knows how much a lost pet returning would mean to us. Don't lose faith!! (When my cat died I was miserable but realized, my cat is definitely part of my greeting party when I reach heaven :) and was probably up in heaven lounging by some heavenly pool & scooping up fish. So, no matter what, your kitty will be cared for and you WILL see her again!
Thank you so much for your thoughts. I keep hoping she is just disoriented somewhere and will find her way back home. But the heat here is just the worst and I don't know if she could survive. We live in the country and I've checked with our closest neighbor 1/2 mi. away. We do have a man who works for us doing yard/farm work 2 days a week. He was here that Fri. when we left for our overnight trip. We asked him if he had seen her and he said yes, she was there when he left. I thought, gosh I hope he didn't accidently run over her and then just didn't want to tell us but I can't imagine that could happen. He drives a pickup truck and she has been known to "hide" in an opened- door vehicle. She would not try to follow us as she is not as attached to me (that's putting it mildly) as our other 4 cats. My vet's wife thought a large owl or eagle may have swooped down on her. I shudder at that thought. A coyote is a possibility and if there was a full moon that night, she might be an easy target since she is mostly white. We have never had any trouble with coyotes and our dogs are always on guard duty. I'm not losing hope yet....years ago when whe lived in Alaska we had a cat that disappeared for weeks and then just showed up at the front door one morning....and that cat was 10 yrs old a very close to our family. There was no way to know where he'd been all that time....we were just glad to have our Big Tom back. Thank you so much for caring.
Is it possible she got into mischief and maybe even into a parked car somewhere and has had a journey?
Also, can you retrace the exact distance in the opposite direction she usually travels? We had a cat once that we found and we asked everyone around, placed an ad in the paper and no one had heard about a missing cat. A year later, we found out through a child I went to school with, that Garfield lived in our neighbourhood- except he had lived three streets right from a major road, rather than three streets left (where we lived). He was just totally disoriented. His Italian family who fed him lasgana in fancy glass dishes was over the moon to have him back-but called us a few weeks later and offered to let us have him. Apparently he kept trying to sneak back to our place!
Cats can get confused pretty quickly, but I also know cats will try anything to find their way back home again...don't lose hope. Maybe your kitty stole away in a car, found a great watering hole (and is drinking up a storm) or has found shelter somewhere. And, they will beg from strangers and get lots of love if there is anyone around.
I've heard too of cats trying to follow their owners when their owner left for a trip!! Maybe your kitty figured she would follow you!
Prayers she'll be found soon.
geez.....that should be SPLIT the difference not spit......gotta learn to proof read!
awww Linda I am so sorry, I was watching and hoping you'd have some good news for us...poor little Heidi.
sorry about your aunt hon too, I hope at least the donkey is recouping alright...

(((>^..^<))) kitty hugs to you and still some prayers for little Heidi wherever she maybe..♥
Thank you....still no Heidi. I had to go to Houston for a coiuple of days to visit my elderly aunt, 92, who is gravely ill but my husband was here on the lookout for Heidi and no sign of her. The heat here has been over 100 every day!
Stardust and I are hoping for the best for your Heidi.
She's still not home. :( You certainly have my thoughts and prayers as does Heidi-hoping for a safe and quick return home. The not knowing must be the worst.
Oh thank you guys...I just now saw this and I really appreciate the kind words and prayers from all of you. I know it's not impossible that she could just show up but with this heat I think it's doubtful. It'll be 2 weeks tomorrow but seems longer. Thanks again for the support. I know how much all of you care.
Absolutely-after what we just went through w/our little ones, she's the first thing I think of in the am. Hoping for the best, from all of us!! Staci, Spirit, Butters and Bob!!
So sweet, Opus.
Come Home Heidi! Praying for your safe return, little one!
Amen!
May the the small ones ( gnomes, angels , fairies and co...) help us/you/her... as well
Big hug !
