Stray cat needs help

We have a cat that was abandoned by the former tenant where we live. There's actually 10 and the landlord doesn't care so we feed them and let them in when it's cold. But this one little guy has a huge wound on the back of his head. It started a few weeks ago and just looked like he scratched a scab. But now it's bleeding a little and looks painful. I can't afford a vet bill (I'm a struggling single mom) and I can't get anyone to help. I called our local animal control and they said "they don't deal with cats". I called a few other cat shelters but no-one seems to care enough. I was working with Pet Connections and they helped me pay to have all these cats fixed but now I can't get a hold of anyone. I can't stand to see an animal suffer but my hands are tied. Can anyone help? Is there a program out there somewhere that can help? Or is there something I can do to ease this guy's pain? Thank you for listening!

Thank you so much!! Yeah He's a very good cat. He actually let me hold him to get a better look at it. I'm gonna try the peroxide solution that you mentioned. I have a friend that owns a dog day spa and she has a client that's a vet so hopefully he'll have a heart and help this little guy. Thanks for taking the time to help.

bless your dear loving heart for all you've done and what you are trying to do....darn that shelter for not helping. I would keep trying to get ahold of someone at Pet Connections as they will probably be the best solution for you. I will also give you a link to an 'old link' that gave some info on sources that would help HOWEVER...its old and someone else mentioned they aren't doing this any longer, but its worth a try.
also try your local Vet clinics explain its a stray and ask if its possible that anyone there would at least have a look at it and give a prescription...cause I do think it should have an antibiotic...
will this kitten allow you to hold him? would you be able to clean the wound out with warm water and some diluted peroxide?....I will give you the link, see what you can find out...post back and let us know PLEASE, and best of luck....let us know and maybe we can help with more suggestions..
