Placing our Furbabies in our Wills!!!

Not a question but a Rant of sorts:

Margot just posted a situation that happens ALL to often. Someone you know dies and did not make arrangement for their pets, UGH!!!! This is soooo sad. Believe me I have volunteered in Rescue a long time and, elderly cats especially, will wither and die if they are taken to a shelter.  They just do not know what is happening the one they loved so much has left them in this place to die?

So If you LOVE your furballs, as I know we all do, PLEAS think NOW about making arrangements for them. Do not just leave them. Some have been found in homes after their owner has died and are near death themselves with no food . OH! Od not get me started, LOL!!

There is a wonderful place Called C&W Rustic Hollow--look it up at http.//www.rustichollowshelter.org. It  was established in 1985 and is still being run by Carmen Conklin and Wanda Orric (thus the C&W). It is mostly for special need kitties , but those that are left after their owner has dies are special needs. I did a lot of research and there are plenty of places , with good reputation that you can leave your cats to and they will be well cared for. I Chose Rustic Hollow -I of course will leave them a monetary donation upon my death to take care of my baby. Mia has No Teeth due to Stomatitis so she needs a place that the is segregated from the tigers.

You do not have to use them, but YOU DO have to use someone. Friend, neighbor, End of life Shelter, family member--someone who knows what to do for your little one in the event you die before they do. Do Not leave it to chance.

I have also made arrangements that if my husband and I are both die in an accident, my Mia is to be euthanized at her Vets and ashes buried with me. Oh Yea, I know get a life, huh? Like this is all I think about, but Rescue Work really opens you eyes. Start looking today on the web for places TODAY! Don't have your baby die lonely without you. Especially elderly cats, no one wants to adopt them, only the young ones and preferably kittens.

Ok I'm done, sorry, I will now get off my soap box.
Sincerely,
CML

I have thought about Akira's well-being, too, in this respect.  I know for sure that my niece would take Akira if anything were to happen to me.  She loves Akira and Akira loves her a lot, too.  Every time my niece comes to visit me, Akira can't wait to sit in her lap.  But, I will bookmark this page, so I can look up the links at a later date.

We do have end of life instructions including out kitties,
and the cremains of the ones we've lost.

Here's a rescue organization I support that cares for elderly cats.

thankyou so much for this wonderful post CML....needs to be talked about!!!!

I can imagine all you have seen doing the work you do...I sure commend kind souls like you for being there with such a loving heart...thank you!!

its sad but so terribly true that no one wants an elderly cat....and I too have made arrangements to have both my boys euthanized and their ashes buried with mine if something should happen. I live alone, as many of us do...I try to speak to a girl friend every other day to let her know I am okay...with sleep apnea I too fear not waking up and having my boys left to fend on their own with NO food...God that scares me.

IMO....an older pet living out their final years in a shelter just isn't fair either...if they had their choice they too would choose death and thats why many stop eating and will themselves gone, just brings tears to my eyes talking abt this. I think this is the most humane thing we can do for our furbabies if we cannot make arrangements for another home for them 'before' hand..and yes this does need to be done because none of us really know just when an accident or health problem can suddenly decide our time is up...

thanks again...lets keep bumping this up so everyone coming to this site makes sure and reads.
