Water jugs have those plastic rings, too. Akira could care less. She likes the coated wires that come off of some produce. The smaller ones, I will just curl them around my finger and toss them toward Akira when she is in play mode.
PET soda bottles - polietilen.... :-)
Cardboards are a must here as well - and Loreena is also a "Sculptor" as you said.Or like I always believed til now, a creative girl that build her own toys- she use to do a hole in a corner of the box because she loves playing with holes (all of them-the ones in the carrier, the one on the vet table...she has to supervise all to see what good its hiden on) Fingers and her fellow kittens paws are a ggod atractive to this joke
Milk here in Brazil doesnt come in bottles so the similar you can give to a cat is the plastic ring of pet soda bottles.Sometimes she likes, some no
Girls her love treads in general and ignore almost every cat toy
She looks so happy and intent!! I bought this toy that I was sure would delight and amaze my cats: it's a selection of feathers on a felt ball w/a noise maker enclosed that makes "thrilling and realistic chirps". The first time I squeezed it Bob went into hiding under the table and the other 2 just wandered off. They have yet to actually play with it unless I actively engage them. One of Bob's favorite games is I hunch @ the top of the stairs w/a scrunched up bit of paper (any type) while urgently telling him to "get ready!!!" then flick it over his head. Glancing around the roomnow I see several of the little wads of paper; looks like someone was playing spitwads in here. The price is right and as long as they're happy!
Spirit does that w/hair elastics!! I cringe waiting for her to snap herself in the lip but she never does! Elastics are her toy of choice and will play fetch w/you with them-only black ones though-no other color. And Butters only likes yellow mousies. Bob will play w/anything at all-I want to try the pipecleaners with them-that looks fun! Now that you mention it, Butters ignores the milk rings too...
Kestrel, who was oldest cat (but never Boss cat, no Boss since Cammie died) before Teia came into our lives, loves milk rings. However, she does not play "milk ring hockey" with them. She loves to step on one side and grab the other with her jaws...she strains and strains, and breaks them.
Our kitties also like playing with balls of crumpled aluminum foil.
I can see the concentration on Teia's sweet little face with this new fascinating interest. I know you're so proud and thrilled, Pip. You've done a fabulous job with her! Jade loves the simply string too and she's jealous of Teia's cool, artistic one. Lol.
Opus, the pipe cleaners are a great idea!! I think DH has some in the garage so will try them. Of course, the paper bag is always a hit! Our first cat, Abby loved those milk rings, but Jade's never taken to them.
Pip, has Teia been exposed to a paper bag yet?
thats the thing with cats one can leave them longer a dog has to be taken out and walked etc and they gobble food so fast ..I guess with mine being inside/outside it would be more complicated I think I better keep looking for a house sitter .
We just leave our cats at home.
All are over 10 years, pretty settled and are healthy; no real serious interpersonal conflicts. We do have friends who come into see them every 2 - 3 days, making sure everything is ok.
5 food and water stations, plus 9 scratch boxes, all of which our friends check for fullness and cleanliness.
May I ask Pip what you do with the cats when you go out of town , I have to go and its creates a real problem ..is it best to have someone stay or take the kitty to the cattery ..I love Tiea's new toy ..Anita is clever , Tweety likes batting around silver paper rolled up, unfortunatly she also tries to bat around the hummingbirds she sees.
So true! Mine are thrilled with an empty box, and that perennial favorite: the ring atop the bottle of milk-must have 100's all over the house!! And you can't beat the price! The beautiful lavender-colored yarn ball w/attractive tail with bell lays sadly ignored in the corner...(Maybe I bought that for me...)
As always-no better way to start the day that a great new Teia story!!! Love the picture, too!
the simplest of toys seem to make the biggest hits.....my Sami absolutely loves those fuzzy pipe cleaners...has them all over the house,I twist them up and when he steps on the one end the other side pops up..drives him crazy. his second best is a simple paper bag...he hides inside and 'attacks' me when I touch the bag..-)
nothing more fun than watching a cat play -)
