perhaps 'toxic' was too strong of a word to use.
I just go by advice from our Vet and from what I read(not just one site)

Opus, if tuna were really toxic to cats, Friskies, Fancy Feast, and all these other cat foods would no be permitted to exist.
Also, Swampy's cat would be dead, as she grew up on a boat under sail, and ate all the fish they caught for the first couple years of her life.
Never give your cat whiskers dry food because it is full of ash which gives them heart, liver and kidney problems. The moist whiskers food is ok just not the dry food. I give my ragdoll cat IAMS or Optimum he doesnt like fish at all-fussy thing!
Oh my dear lady please listen to this and not take it the wrong way......never feed a cat chicken bones..you have been lucky thus far. chicken bones are the very worse, they splinter into tiny little spears and become lodged very easily into kitties throats....please don't do this to your kitty.
I have personally seen a cat die a horrible death when a Vet wasn't near enough to help.

I think a little bit of everything is fine in moderation
I have fed my cat beef chicken etc. with no problems
he seems to LOVE creamed corn...LOL
and as well in his first year I gave him chicken bones, which he loved to chew on and the marrow in the bones made him quite a strong boned cat
Sorry, the science of "People Tuna."
Tuna, and other sea fish, are not a good source of Vitamin E. This is a vital nutrient to our domestic descendants of the Libyan Desert Cat.
If a kitty goes into Vitamin E deficiency she will develop (or he will) "Yellow Fat Disease," which I understand to be, basically, kitty's body begins to feast upon itself, looking for Vitamin E.
All good commercial cat foods are formulated to address this and othe of kitty's nutritional needs.
Heya;
Tuna is OK as an OCCASIONAL treat, as is any other mammel, bird or fish flesh. No one food from "animal sources," fed in moderation, is toxic to cats. Such a view is ill-informed and unscientific in my opinion
My wife and I have fed our girls (32 1/2 years together) commercial wet and dry food; "mega-brand," neither "store/cheap" or premium.
The only kitty we've had, eating thus, that lived less than 16 years was due to a veterinary maloccurrence.
Modern pet foods are a result of many years of study and testing.
Your cat MAY benefit from from higher dollar feeding. Your cat may thrive on "Mega-Mart" brand food.
Each cat is an individual, as are we men and women.

Wellness is an excellent choice....plus a few others that offer 'grain free' products.
Innova for one.
Agree with opus. Do not, I repeat never feed a kit tuna!!! Killed one of my sis's cats. I didn't know it was the mercury.......but it causes some kind of thyroid malfunction.
There are a few super cat foods on market now that offer a good combo. Think I fed my last cat a Wellness formula wet food.
can I vote NONE of the above UNLESS accompanied by the required vitamins and minerals you cannot give just meat alone, and NEVER tuna that is toxic to cats(mercury). a good nutritional diet is required and if all ingredients can be balanced than please buy canned wet food!!
