how will I get her to concieve?

Hi there,

I got my gorgeous kitten last year in November, she's an "only cat" and we have no other animals, we have discussed the possibility of one day, (when Ink has kittens) that we will keep one of her kittens, as we have agreed that 2 cats is enough.
However, as time has gone by, we have decided to keep Inka as an inside cat!!! which wasn't the original plan. So I am absolutly stumped on how she is supposed to end up pregnant? How on Earth will I be able to allow her to mate, if there are no other cats....
Does this mean she will simply never be a mother?
Please help...

Thank you :)

None of my females has ever had kittens, all save one (anaphylactic shock at the vet's) lived at least 15 1/2 years.

All were spayed (save one rescue) before their first heat.

They have never seemed out of sorts because they were not bred.

There are always more cats (dogs, and other "pets") out there than exists homes.  Get your kitty a pound kitty, have both neutered, you'll all be happy.

I couldn't agree more with Annie.  For every kitten born, that many or more end up dying or being euthanized.  Please have your cat spayed and get your second cat from the thousands of cats that already need a home.

It is not the end of the world for a cat to never be a mother.  You can easily end up with two beautiful cats (or more) without them being Inka's babies.  Do you know that one of the reasons the spayed or neutered cats are judged separately from the fertile cats in a cat show is that the spayed and neutered ones look better?  They don't have their hormones running them ragged.  And of course, the pet overpopulation numbers alone give the moral argument for spaying and neutering ... it is something like only 1 in 11 cats in the U.S. that even has a home, much less a good home.

If you like kittens, volunteer to foster a mom and kittens in the spring for your local Humane Society.  If you want another beautiful kitty, check out the hundreds of kittens that go through your local shelter.  You will find plenty of them to love.  Like I said, she does not need to be the mom to be happy.
