overexubrant kitten annoying adult cats

How best to handle my 3 month old Scout? Behavior that was cute when she was 6 weeks old in not so much now. She's not a bad kitty, just plain chock full of energy and sees the other 3 (but Spirit is 14 now and cant be ridden like a donkey or endlessly chased) I've made her all sorts of climbing toys as she loves climbing but when she gets her sights on one of the cats she's relentless!! I saw on "My Cat From Hell" that cat jail is frowned on but sometimes to get the other cats some peace we put her in her closet w/her bed box and she actually goes right to sleep. As mentioned in another post, am recuping from pneumonia and physically can't run up and down stairs over and over after her when she's in this mood!

My Chesapeake was given up to the shelter where I adopted her as "Kitten too active at night."  I took her home as she resembled my beloved Queen Victoria Grey (1982 - 2000) so much.

Chessie (aka Bearby) is now 12 years 2 months old and is a blob cat (19.4#).

Our beloved little companions are (in essence) mini-tigers, and tigers hunt.  Babies play at hunting and their prey is often the elders of their tribe, who know how to rebuff them.

Unfortunately some of the elders (like Spirit) are not up to the rough and tumble.  That's where we do our best as Staff to Cats, to safeguard the Elder Kitties from the exuberance of youth.

You are not going to change Scout, but a laser pointer proves a fine distraction.

Oh, spirit, I could have written that myself...I also have a 3 mo. old and he is starting to let his inner-delinquent kitty persona out!  He is chasing my three older cats every time they are in the house.  He had lots of littermates so I guess he's bored...I'm not enough for him. My older 2 cats are 11 and 16 and the 3rd is 4+.  So I know exactly how you feel!  At least we can take comfort in knowing that this is a phase they are going through and it should be over in 2-3 mo. or so.  In the meantime I think I'll take Opus' advice and get some Feliway. Scout sounds very adventurous... just like my Foxy! :)  Such fun!!!

have you tried using some Feliway? it comes in a spray can or difuser ....don't spray the cat..just the rooms, it helps to calm some kitties...sorry don't know of alot of other ways to get him to calm down...he's a very rambunctious teen.:)
