Teia updare 10 May 17

Had Miss Teia at the vet on Monday to have her blood work done to see if the kidney and thyroid medicines are working.  Kidneys are still a little weak, but condition js stable. Also had them give her some subq fluids.

Tuesday she was a little blocked, puked up breakfast, but did eliminate.

Today when I got home from the dentist she appeared to be straining again, but I noticed she was leaving dark colored fluid. Off to the vet again. She passed some more, after vet examined her and said bladder was distended. Got a urine sample and while that was being checked, Teia passed a blot clot. Looks like a bladder infection, gave her subq fluids and (yes, I know the risk, but Teia is NOT a pillable cat) a long release antibiotic shot.

I'll bring her in again in 2 weeks to get the blood work redone. Vet says Teia should feel better in 24 hours or so.

Vet also mentioned the possibility of cancer...I hope we do not have to make a Decision.

Hey Pip.  You are well informed about Convenia; that's what matters.  Not every kitty reacts as you know.  If I were Teia's owner, and at this point in her life, I'm sure I would of made the same decision.  

I will say a prayer for our girl.  I know you'll keep us updated.

My visit with the oncologist went well.  All my blood count and chemistry numbers are in normal range (except the platelets, they are still low, but back up to 2/3 normal).

Also, there was no evidence of recurrence or metastasis in the CT scan results.  All organs appear to be as normal as expected after the major surgery i had.

There is some evidence of hardening of the arteries in and around my heart, which is not unexpected, runs in the family.  There was also some damage to my spine consistent with osteoarthritis, also not unexpected.

All in all, I am a very fortunate man.  It looks like I will have the years needed to care for Anita and the kitties.

..and yet another good Teia size pee this afternoon, without tinge or mucus.  She has had a good appetite today, too.

Miss Teia had a good, Teia sized, pee tonight.  I swear that cat has the bladder of a 5 year old human child. She had been just dribbling a little here and there, with a couple of 1 or 2 ounces deposits otherwise.

There was a small thread of dark mucus in it, but no blood tinge overall.

Fingers crossed that the antibiotic is working.

Another good Teia size pee this morning, no mucus or tinge.  Has had a good appetite today, too.

Hey Pip.

  Jade has the heartfelt words that I would like to share, hoping she doesn't mind. We all love Miss Teia so much.  I like to think of her as a magical cat who was steered to a home where magic is encouraged.  Different kitties to know at first and for some time now 2 little brothers whom she helped raise and who helped raise her.  You've given her a healing place, all of them through the years a healing place.  I think they've given you a healing place too.  Sharing her plate with Buff, who frequently needs more food it seems, is so sweet.  She is so sweet.  I hope the best for all of you.
