sickness after spaying

On December 12th I had my 22 month old cat spayed.By the 19th she wasn't eating much. On the twentieth she ate but had diarrhea soon after, and she was licking her rectum a lot. Little by little she cut down on eating or drinking so that now December 25th she's not eating, except a nibble, that comes right out. Help! I love her so! Is it spaying complications? She was spayed for nearly free by Save a Pet an adoption and animal shelter. I'm on disability and rally don't have the funds for a large vet Bill. Thank you.

Molly B. Is a lot better. She is eating, drinking, and her bowel movements  are normal. GOD knows how much I love her and since I haven't a car was going to be unable to get her to a emergency vet. Prayer made the difference! Thank you so much for your concern and advice. God bless.

Hi,

Just wondering about the little kit. Could you post a follow-up?

Thanks

Hello there,
The advice that CML2014 is giving you is very good. I agree with this
member's advice. Based on your comments, I would be willing to bet
that what your kitty is experiencing is related to the spaying done earlier
this month. Cats cannot go more than 2 days without eating. Liver damage
will occur as well as possible damage to her other organs. This is really
serious and life threatening. My advice is to make arrangements to get
your kitty to an emergency vet right now. I don't think I would take her
back to the same place you had her spade. Emergency vets are highly
trained and they can work out a plan as far as payment, but if you love
your kitty the way you say you do, please don't wait to take her to an
emergency vet.  You may be surprised that it won't cost as much as you
think. If it is an infection, she will probably need antibiotics and a vet
must prescribe these. Your kitty is relying on you. Our fur babies are so
helpless and rely on us to make them better. I wish you both the best
of luck.  Eve ( mother of Sammy the cat)

P.S. She should be seen immediately if she has not been eating---a cat can not go more than 2 days  without liver damage.! That is more of an emergency right now---Please get her to an Emergency Vet--The rest will work itself out?

You have my luck. Something major always happens on a Holiday when Doctors and Vets are closed.

I am not an expert but I would think this is related to her spaying. Perhaps an infection set in. I could tell you to take her temp, but I would not put her through anymore stress.

Here's what you could do. CALL an emergency Vet clinic--explain what is happening. Ask if she would be ok until tomorrow when you can take her back to the Save a Pet adoption center for them to give her meds or resolve what the problem is. This should not cost you since it is their fault she has this problem.

Now if the Vet emergency care is near you and they say she should be seen immediately then go there at once and they will probably be able to work out some kind of payment . Explain your financial situation. They would have to be pretty bad to allow a kitten to suffer because you do not have the funds right now.

If this sounds good you may want to just take her to emergency and hope they will let you make installment payments. Either way , Molly, Kitty should be seen asap. She is probably dehydrated from not eating and needs fluids.

If it were me I would be on the Emergency Vets doorsteps with her NOW.

Good Luck with whatever you decide. Please let us know the outcome.

Sincerely,
Clare
