weird cat

my dh and i have this cat. well kitten. she's not quiet a year old yet. she's a main coon. she's nuts. she thinks she's a dog. she even does this weird meow/bark thing. she plays fetch. she greats us at the door. she's a weird cat.

does anybody elses cat's think they're dogs? or is ours the only one with wires crossed in the brain?

Hi, my cat plays fetch too & comes when I call him. I'll be upstairs & he will be downstairs and I call his name & he comes running. It is so cute!!! He plays fetch better than our dog does. He brings back what you throw. It is really fun & awesome to watch!!!! My cat also licks my face all over in the morning for me to get up & he greets me every time I come home. He also loves running up & down the stairs. Which I hate though cause he goes so fast I think he's going to fall down them. I love cats soooooo much. I don't understand people who don't. Cats are Awesome!!!

Lucie, my maine coon fetches and also has a lot of doggy characteristics. She is a hoot! Lucie turned eight this years and still does her crazy stuff on a daily basis. She shares her house with Abbie, a gray long haired female that thinks she is a southern belle Lucie of course is the Alpha cat!

what's bad is my cat is better at fetching then my moms dogs are lol. even her "little sister" (her mother is a main coon and we have NO clue where she found another to mate with) is a fetcher to. she does the same weird meow/bark thing. but her "little brother" is NOT main coon. at least not full main coon. we know where his daddy came from. he's a beautiful jet black kitten. but he doesn't fetch. he's a very snobbish little cat. lol.

venus....she's something else. i love cats. i don't know how people can not love them. their personalities are so amazing.

Your kitty sounds like fun. I saw pictures of her and she is gorgeous. Coonies are my favorite breed of cats. The behavior they display is just unique.  

I know what you’re saying. When I lift the toy to throw it, Abby gets ready. He positions himself like a hound lol. Then he just goes after the toy, bites and bats it a little, and then brings it back. Your cat meows before the toy is being thrown. My cat meows when he lets g of the toys to indicate that he wants you to throw the toy again. He’ll be doing this for maybe 8 minutes.  It’s just the perfect view to me. The best part is you don’t teach them lol. They just bring you the toy after it has been thrown and that’s when the bell rings that “Hey, my cat fetches” LOL

oh she's beautiful. absolutely gorgeous. i've never had a cat that played fetch before. when the dh plays with her and says "venus...ready?" she does the weird meow/bark thing and her whiskers twitch. she gets so excited. she chases the ball, bats it around then picks it up in her mouth and brings it back to him. we just laugh. and rambunctious isn't the word for her. we hoped she would calm down a bit after we had her spayed but i think she was even more wound up. at night when she's running around the house and up and down the stairs sounds like a heard of wild horses. and of course the occasional crash of her sliding on the linolieum and slamming into a cupboard in the kitchen. it's funny but man oh man....she's just....venus. lol

Maine Coon kitties love to play fetch. Fetching and owning a dog behavior are two predominant characteristics of this breed. Being a kitten, I wouldn’t doubt it if she was rambunctious and playful. She’ll settle when she matures more.  I have a cat that fetches and I love it. He isn’t Maine Coon. A lot of cats greet their owners at the door.

Your kitten is pretty normal, I’d say. You’re lucky she displays her Maine Coon characteristics like this. I just think fetching looks wonderful in a cat.

She isn’t weird. She is just a Maine Coon........and what a pretty girl she must be :)
