Illness can cause an altered mental state. It sounds like the case, here. Add on the stress of vet visits, and you've got a cat just rarin' to act out.
I'd like to hear the results of the bloodwork before I start trying to guess, though.
It may be a dramatic action, but if this is being caused by a severe hairball issue you may want to try clipping your cat's fur to give her some temporary relief.
Of course, than your cat will be angry with you for a whole new reason... :-)
Hello,
The vet didnt put her on antibiotics because he wanted to see if there was an infection first with the blood test results. I am suppose to go pick up some de-worming meds tomorrow for Ali. The asisstant told me her temperature was on the high side of normal. He told me today that she is probably acting needy because the anti vomiting medicine he gave her is probably making her feel uncomfotable because it is forcing everything else out the other end instead of letting her throw up. I guess I was just shook up because I couldnt get her off me and was scared she was going to try to attack my face. I just got the blood results today and couldnt get home from work before the vet clinic closed.. That and I had my own doctors appointment to get an MRI done. I will give her a chance trust me I LOVE my cat . Maybe she is feeling crumby and sees me as the reason cus I keep taking her to the place to get stuck with needles and thermometers shoved in places she doesnt like lol. Poor kitty.
Hi, I was just wondering why your vet didn't put your cat on antibiotics when her white blood cells were high and she had a fever???? That's just nuts! I don't think your cat feels good. She is probably grouchy and in an evil mood, and that's why I think she attacked you. Why didn't your vet put her on antibiotics?
Also, you got her from PetsMart? Do you know her history? Is she a stray? If she was a stray, she could have a parasite called Giardia that can cause a lot of vomiting and diarrhea. That is a specific test. Might be worth looking into.
Give your cat a chance, and let's assume that she feels crummy and that might be why she's acting a little psycho right now. I'd also think about finding another vet. Any vet that sees a fever and elevated white blood cell count that does NOT prescribe antibiotics is a sh*tty vet! Sorry if ya like the vet-no offense-but that's the way I see it.
Good luck and let me know how everything goes!
