I always thought mine were cluster headaches, as they didn't really fit the description for migraines, even though the docs always treated me for migraines. Now that I have been doing my research on my Chiari's, I've learned that CM headaches generally start in the back of the head and end up behind the eyes. That fit me to a tee. The other thing about my headaches is that if I lean forward, I feel like my head is going to explode. These are not typical of migraines. What exactly do you experience during your headpaines?
Most headaches associated with Chiari's can be contributed to the fluid buildup in the skull. Have you had a CINE done?
No bother...and it at least will be on record that u tried to rule things out...we can only hope ....but u know how drs can be....they will find another reason....most likely anxiety.
But, if it is not the disks causing an issue, they can no longer throw it in ur face as a possibility.
And, if it indeed is an issue, best know now and take care of it....if the pain persists......then again, the dr had no idea and is just going thru the steps of elimination.
As I may have said, I had my PFD in May....and began to feel bad again about 5.5 months post op....and now I know my disk is deff causing an issue for me......but, I had the problem for many yrs and was always told it was asymptomatic and nothing to worry about.....so, now I am looking at surgery to fix this non issue.....????
I would prefer the dr to say I have no idea if this will present as a problem, the best we can do is keep an eye on it.....I would have more confidence in that ......
I too have had migraines, and I am sure u also know the difference......and if u feel this is not a migraine, I believe u, and only tests will say for sure what is truly going on.

Selma..........
Do you truly think this Discogram test will finally let the doctor see that this is Head Pain??...and not a 8 month migraine ....?????sorry to bother ya, I just wondered what you thought...
It like when I have stomach problems, I have GERD and IBS. When I tell my husband my stomach hurts he tells me I should take tums, but sometimes it's one or the other...and each requires different treatment.
Good way to put this.....
I know the difference in a migraine headache and this is HEADPAIN....
I believe those with Migraines, had better hope this pain never strikes them.....
All my life I have had maybe10 bad headaches.....
This is not my 9th headache...
This is ongoing HEADPAIN/pressure.
I hope after I go take this Dicogram test that someone will do something to make it stop....I can only hope........russell
I have CM and the migraines and the pain is much different...I know when I am having a chiari HA or a migraine. It's hard to explain it to others. It like when I have stomach problems, I have GERD and IBS. When I tell my husband my stomach hurts he tells me I should take tums, but sometimes it's one or the other...and each requires different treatment.
Hi Russell......so the saga continues.....well getting the test done will deff tell u it is not the disks.....but I am not sure u can convince them it is not migraines....as we can have both, but when migraine meds do not touch the pain I am sure it is not a migraine....lol....
Sorry u r going thru this dance with the medical profession......

Hmmmm....the appointment.
Well something like this, Russell come look at the MRI, I will show you something..
I followed theDr., looked at the MRI,he showed me how he could fix the herniated disc.
I decided I would ask him if there was a way to tell if this HEAD PAIN, can be the cervical Disc herniation's....
Or the CM1......
He said that it sounds like the Chiari, then he scheduled me for a
Discagram....
This 1500.00 dollar test must be a way to see if my HEADPAIN is worse from the 2 Herniated disc, or the CM1........
Well, I guess I have no choice, but to do the test and see if then someone will take a forward step to make this HEADPAIN.....stop.
I feel really helpless with this, He even for a split second acted like this could be a Miagrane....I asked if you could have a Migraine for 6-8 month....he said yes.
THIS ISNOT A MIGRAINE,ITS HEADPAIN!!!!!!!!!!.........all input welcome.....PLEASE...russell
Hi Russell...how did ur appointment go?
Hello, thanks for the replys....
I hope this is a "flare"....
I have been feeling this way for 2 months, minumm...
I have pain meds, honestly I don't think they work....maybe so but the pain overwhelms the meds, by a long shot.....
Today I go see the NS, that told me I have Chiari, and see if he can enlighten me......When he saw it on the MRI, he started telling me, that my cervical disc herniation symptoms....are CM1....and then he abruptly left.
I hope he finds time in his day today, to help me feel better about this, I truly hope he does......russell
Hi Russell.
I just found out I had CM in November. I would say for the whole month of September and most of November I had all of your symptoms. They did stop. My NS said my symptoms could come and go. Knock on wood..most of them have gone for now. I do still have some of them every other day or so but not as bad as the "flare" I had before. It was terrible and all you can do is take it one day at a time. Try to get your rest and try not to let it beat you down. Right now I'm having really bad back pain and trying to deal with that. Not sure if it's sciatica or the CM. I hope it get's better for you soon.
Take care.

Hi Russell.....many of us including myself have noticed our symptoms can and do cycle.....u may be in a flare.
I know how frustrating this can be the pain and nausea.....I also am not sure if u r on meds for ur bi-polar dx, but mayb it is affecting how u feel as well.
How long have u had these symptoms?
