My first I know was several hours (not sure how when it was only done half way around). My second was about 1 1/2 hours. Not sure how that was either, esp since according to other neuros it was in bad shape and still had a lot to do. I thought it would take about the same as the first.
1- lasted 5 hours. crainectomy, duraplasty, cauterization, laminectomy, cranioplasty
2- lasted 5 hours. removal of hardware, duraplasty
(it took him longer to remove my other dura)
Mine was just under 6 hours. That was with a duraplasty and I had my pericranium tissue harvested as well. They also ran into a complication which took them a little bit longer.
Mine took 9 hours total (I've only had one surgery...). I had decompression and fusion skull to c2.
I have only had one and that was pretty long , or longer then they told us, we were told around 4 hrs and it was more then 7....u never know what they will find even with a MRI many times things are hidden behind another structure so, until they go in they have no idea how much work there will be.
In my case I had my pericardium harvested so that took more time as they also wanted to be sure I did not develop a leak...which I didn't....
