Arnold Chiari Post surgery

I had type ii arnold chiari  decpmpression suregery  Sept. 28, 2011.  My surgery was about 6 hours long and I was in ICU five days after my surgery and was home two days and re-admitted for another 10 days for fluid. I had a drain put in and stayed flat for those 10 days. I am still in a lot of pain. I have numbness in my right hand and my right leg and my head is still very tender to touch and swollen.. Will this pain very go away?

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

May I ask did u rule out related issues b4 u had surgery? What issues/symptoms were u having just prior to having surgery or getting dx'd.....

Did u have a MRI post op? If so, at what time frame in ur recovery did u have it done?

And may I ask, y u were in ICU for 5 days, what issues were u having?

Sorry for all the questions, but it may help answer what is going on....

So sorry to hear you had to reenter the hospital.  I know how hard it is to lay there for 10 days with a drain.  I thought this was the wost part for me because you have to take that chance that this will work for you.  Hope things are going better for you now.  As for me I had to have 4 surgeries all together and it does take a little more time to heal each time we have to deal with another procedure.  Hope you are having better days ahead and hoping the leak has subsided.  Keep us posted.
Linda :)
