Bump in the Recovery Road!

Question

Thought I would try to say hello. My side (where the drain from LP shunt was) is leaking CSF.  I went back to my NS monday and they added a stitch, then to the ER that night since it was leaking so fast, they added another stitch and glued me.  I was leaking again by the time that I got home.  Put back on antibiotics.  I have been in bed laying down since and my back is killing me and I am getting so sore.  No idea why my side will not close and when they tried to numb my side to do the stitches... IT DID NOT WORK>>> huge pain, no numbness... worst stitches ever.  They had me just about crazy.  Not really sure what to do, it is a slower leak right now but speeds up if I stand even to use the bathroom.  I figure I will call again tomorrow if I am still leaking... it is making me bonkers!  I really just wish I could have ONE easy recovery!  This is such a pain in the butt!!!!  -zygy

:) I have lots of purple because it is my favorite color but I am going to look around for something special for Chiari!  Glad you liked the leeks and leaks... it made me laugh!  It was a rough night trying to sleep but my side is still not leaking... hopefully I feel good today!  Sitting up this morning is NICE!!!!

Oh I have the elastic....I have the purple beads as well....nothing as far as real gems tho....hmmm...too many ideas and I have to finish my cushion now that I have a working machine....I may look at the beads when I take a break from the cushion or other sewing projects....

leeks & leaks, lol.

an elastic bracelet is the easiest; trust the laziest.  :).  it took me longer to decide on the beads (I picked amethyst) than to make it.

Thanks for all the kindness. Stitches were horrible not being numb. I have to get a purple bracelet!!!!!!  Yesterday a friend brought over some food and some late garden veggies....she brought me leeks...LOL. made me laugh since all my problems are from leaks...just funny.

So sorry to hear this.  7 is the magic # for no more leaks.  Wishing you the best.  Your in my prayers.  You and your Dr's will learn from all of this believe it or not.  Just hang in there.  This will make you stronger.  Wishing you the best.

I am sorry to hear about what your dealing with, I pray all goes well in Surgery. I can't believe that your have had seven surgeries, that is alot to go through...Your in my prayers because this Chiari is very hard to deal with at times.

Your feeling was right.. surgery tomorrow to fix this!  Should be out patient and easy enough, they are going to open up my side again and close deeper.  I am not quite processing the information, just found out and don't really want to do anything anymore... I would really like something to happen without a complication!  I will say hello when I am back from surgery.... surgery 7 dealing with this Chiari crap! -zygy

Hi..I am so sorry u r dealing with this yet again....but if u do have EDS the skin is fragile and it tears and rips with stitches and the glue is a better rt to go .....and I wonder if that is the issue all along?

 DO keep hydrated....and stay flat as much as possible...even eating....I know no fun, but the best way to let this heal, but if it is as fast as u say, I have a feeling u have to go back to the NS...
