Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.
Congratulations on the birth of your son.
Was the delivery of your son a natural birth? If so, that along with the changes in the body during pregnancy can cause symptoms to flare and change.
A NL that worked with my Chiari NS told me to try Feldenkrais.method.....(sp?) it has to do with posture, movement and alignment of the body and how it relates to pain.....I tried to read books on the method but was not able to understand...I found a place that had classes but it was too far for me to get to one....hoping one will be available here in town this summer so I can see how it works...my daughter is a dancer and suggested the same method to me a few yrs b4 I was DX'd with Chiari....thinking it would help me....lol...the NL was surprised I was familiar with it....
I also wanted to mention I had a flare of symptoms after my daughter was born, all the lifting and holding a baby can really affect us...and as I stated above the changes in our body due to pregnancy and then delivery will also cause changes and flares....
Make sure you have more testing to see if you have a CSF obstruction or any of the related conditions as they too can cause symptoms to flare and if you have an obstruction of CSF you may be a surgical candidate....if not, you should be able to use some sort of method or meditation along with avoiding certain activities to help keep symptoms at bay.
It is good to hear that your symptoms lessened enough so that you could concentrate on your comfort during pregnancy. I hope you had a good pregnancy. Some people on this forum have mentioned how after their pregnancies their symptoms either flared or returned. I also wonder how much your fluctuation in hormones affects how you are experiencing your symptoms. How old is your baby? I am reminded how very healthy I felt when my son was still inside of me where I knew he was safe. Do you have any difficulties with your childcare? It is challenging enough in itself, without having any pain. I hope you have someone helping you. Do find comfort in knowing that you are among people who care and want to encourage you.
Hello and welcome to this community.
I find Yoga and Meditation helps sometimes, but other than this we shouldn't try to over do it. Physical Therapy is a no no, as well as acupuncture (or at least that is what my doctor says.). There is a thing called dry needling. I don't know if it works or not. I am no fan of needles so I have not tried this method. Hope this helps.
