Anyone else from Bakersfield

Hi all....
I am the mom of a young boy, 11. He was decompressed on Feb 16, 2010.  He is coming up on his 2 year anniversary.

He is doing pretty good.  Still has daily headaches, but they are manageable. He takes a daily med for them and is focusing better in class since starting them.  Before surgery he was losing use of his legs and he has not had that happen since.  He had complete CSF blockage.

Nice to "meet" you all!

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

I am coming up on my 3 yr post op annv and I am just now dealing with daily HA's as a result of being low on my meds...

May I ask what he is on...mayb he needs his meds adjusted to help reduce the HA;s a bit more...and he should look to his activities as a boy, I am sure he may be doing a few things that may contribute to them....lighting can be one of them...so take him to an eye dr to see if  tinted glasses could help.....also see if  he is carrying too many books(weight) around in school and if  arrangements can be  made to help with this ....

little things like this may reduce these daily manageable HA's to rare HA;s.

Glad to see you found us.  It is also nice to hear your son doing so well. I had my decompression 17mths ago and it is nice to have a little of my life back.  Just wanted to welcome you, and hearing how well your son is doing is encouraging to us all.
