Dramatic Weather Changes

Does anybody else with chiari feel sicker/have worse headaches *after* there has been a dramatic weather pressure change in their area? I always feel more out of it/nauseous/head hurts after there has been a dramatic weather change. Its usually delayed one day, sometimes two.

I always blamed this on chiari, but I did a couple searches and found that many chiari patients feel pain before storms. Wondering if it could still be chiari. (I had my last surgery in 2004).

Thanks!

Oh yeah this is a nice topic to bring up!  i have had the surgery and i feel ran down and like i have the worse hang over headache ever before and during and after a dramatic weather change exspecially the cold fronts that move in.  Its quite common unfortunately.  Try drinking a cup of coffee with caffine you will be suprised at how fast it all goes away.

Thanks for the responses everybody. I have minor issues outside the weather disturbances, a constant dull headache (low level pain though), some nausea. And struggle with upper back pain. I've come a long way though! I maintain a normal life now. I hope all of you feel better soon.

I am 1 yr post op and I do feel weather has something to do with the pressure in my head.  As it get's cooler, I have more pain.  At least I'm blaming it on Chairi. :)  Having pain issues every day makes it hard to actually put a finger on it.  I am so glad to hear your feeling good ther wise.  I can't wait for that day to come.

I don't, but I haven't had surgery.  For me, anything having to do with bones is affected by weather...so it makes perfect sense if you've already had surgery!!

I broke my leg as a kid, and have had multiple knee surgeries on my other leg (and they had to cut away bone)...both cramp so bad when the weather is changing, I can nearly predict rainstorms on their way.   The pain is deep in the bone and the only thing that helps is heat.  I can only imagine that your head would hurt just as bad...and pain like that in the head would be terrible.

Have you tried a warm pack?  Nothing too hot since it's your head!  Or a hot shower?

Hope you feel better

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

We have had many threads on this topic, u can use the search this community feature to locate the older threads.....but the consencenses is it is the Chiari clashing with weather/seanon changes that can affect us.
Surgery will not get rid of all symptoms as u will still have Chiari.

Many chiarians also have related issues that can also play into this.

2004....wow that is sometime ago, outside of the weathers disturbances do u have ne other issues?
