Breathing trouble with Chiari Malformation 1.

Over the years I have been having issues breathing as well as chest pains and a host of other symptoms. I was diagnosed with another condition however recently doctor's at discovered that I indeed have Chiari Malformation 1 and not what I was previously diagnosed with. The past two days my breathing have been terrible, I feel as though I am struggling to breathing, which makes me light headed. I also find that I have to take deep breath in-between speaking. I also have been having mental lapse as well. Is this normal with Chiari 1?

Hi ic467 and welcome to the Chiari forum.

I know many of us do have breathing issues and when  you do, you should be seen by a true Chiari specialist.....

May I ask you to expand on your breathing issues as sleep apnea is very common breathing issue for those with Chiari.

I use to hyperventilate when  speaking so I understand how you feel....

Brain fog is also very common complaint that we Chairians have....

Weather can also be a factor to how we are feeling so check the barometer in your area to see if that could be a cause to how you feel.

In addition to weather what we do activity wise can also affect how we are feeling as certain things can trigger symptoms to flare.....

May I ask what other condition you were DX'd with.....so many of us do get mis-DX'd ...some with MS, Fibro.....and it is possible to have multiple conditions going on at once too.
