only approved 1 visit?

so last week my insurance approved only 1 visit to dr heilmans office. that was for the consultation last monday. that was when i was told i needed surgery. so when i called my pcp, they said they would need to put in for 3 more referals for the pre-op, post-op and 1 other appt. if they already approved 1 appt, should there be any reason for them not to approve these next ones? im still waiting on word about the actual surgery whether or not the insurance will accept it or not. so now i have to wait for approval for more appts as well. this is rediculous! any one else have these hurtles?

I too am waiting on ins approval but I don't think there will be a problem. I think its just protocal they have to go through. We have pretty good ins through my husbands work. Which pays 80 percent after our 500 deductible. And pay for all after we pay 2000 out of pocket. But there are some restrictions. But I think I will be fine.

I can  only imagine u have a HMO type of insurance....I had that yrs ago and hated having to wait on referrals....I no longer have that  and like that I can choose a participating specialist with no referrals...I still had to get approval for surgery...but it is easier to see a Dr.

As for the approval I doubt they can say no, but they will not want to pay and drag it out.....call them and push for them to give u an answer sooner.....
