How does getting emotional affect you?

I try to stay pretty even keel as I know stress is bad for us.  Today I found out that surgery may be delayed again and I pretty much lost it.  I honestly dont know how much more I can take of this.  I have learned my way around alot of the symptoms.  But the pain is unrelenting as I am sure all of you know.  Since getting so upset... I feel absolutely like my head may explode.  I have so much pressure in the back of my neck and my head it is just miserable.  I guess it isnt a question as much as a need to vent.  I really need this to be over with now. Thanks for listening, again!

Every time I cry I get my worst headaches. Sometimes just getting upset of angry seems to raise my BP the my other BP (brain pressure) My eyes hurt badly and they feel as if they are bulging.
So sorry to hear about your delay, but look at the bright side, you are almost there. Of course that will not take away the fact that you have a Chiari Malformation, but some of us are still looking for the right doctor and a proper diagnosis.  You have come a long way, and that is a lot to be thankful for.
I wish there was more I could do to actually help you, hang in there and let us know how rescheduling goes.   Stacey

I am praying for you also.  You have been thru so much.  Thanks... and have faith Monday is going to be just fine.

Good news since my post.  I looks as though I got the Medical Board to back down and I am back on schedule.  I am so ready to get this over with.

I completely understand.  My emotions have been crazy for quite a few years.  I have horrible episodes where I can cry for hours & it doesn't stop.  This happened a lot more prior to being diagnosed cause I knew something was wrong w/me but didn't have an answer.  I can fly off the handle so easily, as well and I never knew why.  My husband has been through so much and because he didn't know what was wrong the situations always got worse cause he couldn't handle it.  Now that we know there is something wrong my attacks are shorter because he is there to support me.

I have found the only thing that works for me is to take a Xanax before it gets too bad...cause once the crying starts, I'm like a faucet you can't turn off.  And I have to stop them because if I don't my head ends up exploding & it just gets worse.

I hope things get better for you and I hope you don't feel alone.

Crying definitely makes symptoms worse. But holding back tears sometimes makes me feel lousy too. Sometimes you just have to let it out. The catharsis will relieve some stress.

When I get really upset I do deep breathing. You have to breathe all the way into your stomach using your diaphragm. Sometimes it helps to lie down cause it opens up the lungs and makes it easier to see your belly rise and fall with your breath. The slower and deeper you breathe the more calm you will feel. It's a Yoga technique called pranayama.

I agree, when I cry my head gets VERY VERY BAD. To the point  I want to run to the ER for help. I never watch super sad movies or argue with anyone for that reason. When I am stressed about something I can feel the pain coming on.

A good hot bath always works for me too.....I am glad u r feeling better, I know crying hurts, but so does laughing...and both help us feel better in one form or another...u just have to let out a laugh now and then and it will hurt, and u will have to cry, and it too, will hurt....that is the beast chiari.

Hang in there : )

I am so sorry about yet another delay....and I know how hard it can be to hang in there when u r disappointed so often.I noticed that when I get stressed post op I still get a tightness in my jaw and tingling....

And of course HA's do get worse with stress too...most of the chiari symptoms will flare and bother u more.

I feel it is best to release it all do not hold it in....so vent netime....u need : )
