2 months post op update

Hi all ! August 7th made 2 months post op for me, and what a difference !!! I have to say, the recovery is not an easy one....and I still struggle at times, but overall...I NEVER thought I would feel this good again. I have much more energy, only very small headaches, I can feel my legs again, no ringing in ears, no tingly hands, I haven't fallen in a looooong time :)- WoooHooo !! There are more but it is escaping my memory at the moment. My neck still gets very sore by the end of the day, and I do get tired, but not nearly like before . I am actually able to sleep in my bed comfortably without 30 pillows...lol. I have been super busy getting my little ones all ready for school. I can't believe my baby girl goes to school in just 5 days !!! I am not sure what to do with myself. Football and cheerleading have started, as well dancing :)- It is back to projects, and practices, and papers, and popcprn making...lol. I know there is no way I could keep up unless I had this surgery, and I am so glad I did. I know there are many of you out there right now that have just been diagnosed and are facing the long journey, but it is a journey worth making. I know how hard the road can be and wanted you guys to know, its not hopeless, and that there is a light at the end of this long tunnel. Your life may be altered, but the changes are good and it does get easier. The things that change are worth it to be healthy and happy. Before surgery I was on over 20 pills a day to treat everything. I am happy to say I am only on 2-3 a day, and two of those are pain pills, mostly taken for my back problems...not the chiari. I am lucky to have great team of Dr's and a family that understand. I hope you are all doing well. Oh, I almost forgot...My daughters teacher aide this year, is quite a special woman. I met her the other day and when we both cringed at the lightning I asked her what her excuse was, telling her I had brain surgery over the summer, she said I had brain surgery 5 years ago. She asked me what for and come to find out, we both have chiari. the great thing about this is she is new to ms christina's class, and Ms. Christina has become a friend of mine after having had both of my sons in her class for pre-k, so she really understands chiari, and I think they will understand each other a little more know. Anyway, just wanted to update you all and say hello !!! Love and hugs to my chiari family that I love so much. I wouldn't be here without you guys !!!!

It's awesome to read this post...I am newer here to this thread, however, I am about a month post-op and I can't believe the difference it has made with all my Chiari symptoms!
I am still not 100% healed from surgery but it's nice to NOT have a daily headache and all I the other stuff I suffered with!

I had a feeling you were doing much better as you haven't been on much lately.  So happy for you and that you can now 'enjoy' the time you have with your kids.  I'm glad that you are finding ways to pace yourself! Enjoy your 'me' time when the kids are at school!  Take good care!

Awe you guys are too sweet. The funny thing is that I haven't really gone anywhere. I still leave the forum up throught the day and when I sit to rest I always check on you guys so I am current on my friends, just haven't had much time to post and respond. Until I stopped and looked back today and realized that I was already 2 months post op, I didn't realize  how well I was, so I didn;t feel as though I had anything encouraging to say :)

Selma, there are LOTS of activites...but I have the whole day to myself starting this coming thursday when my little girl goes to school. I am going to miss her, but I welcome the break :) I will be on, as I could never imagine getting through it without my Monday Rants...lol.   Today was a hard day but I am getting through it. I have ways to pace myself, and that seems to help. As well as a nice early bedtime :)-

Thank you all so much ! I remember having others that would update and tell us their progress and how much better they felt, and I want to make sure that I return that to you all.  It helps so much knowing that there is hope and help out there.  AuntiJ ~ COngrats on that HUGE step !!! I will be praying for you.

This is the second person with chiari that I met, and no, I don't believe it to be coincedence. It truely is a special feeling that I wish we could all have.

So glad to hear it Sheila!

What warms my heart is that those of you who are young can have much more fulfilling lives.  But less suffering for all with early detection and treatment!
