Yes, I think that was what it was and it was AWESOME!! I really need to get one of those things....
I use a TENS machine, is this what was used?.....TENS = Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation
It helps big time....
Ray
oooooooo I know what u mean...that feels so good....not sure what it is called tho...lol.....
Forgot to mention...
She put me on this machine (not sure what it was and IMS maybe) and she put patches on my tight spots and it just vibrated there for awhile and loosened the muscles up. My neck and lower back feels better now than it has for a long time!! I told her that I needed one of those for home so maybe I could settle down my legs and actually sleep again!!
So glad to hear it went so well !!
I hope it all goes as well as ur PT has planned...keep us posted : )
So I just thought I'd update you.... I went to PT today and it was great!!
The lady I have actually knew about CM and she was so understanding and she validated everything I feel and even explained why I would feel that way. It just felt like she was a total advocate for me!!
She said my C5-C6 joints were extremely stiff (no surprise there) which is why I am still getting so much pain. She also felt my hips and told me I do have a slippage to the right which would explain the still uneven walking and the jarring that it causes. The good news is even though she said my joints are unstable and loose at this point, she is sure that it is because the muscles that hold them together are still very weak. She doesn't think that I actually have a problem with the joint itself ...whew!! She is very confident over time that I can regain that strenght and regain balance in my muscles. She did tell me though that we are going to go at it very slowly and that it will take time. She noticed an issure with my mid-thoracic spine too but she said that that along with the hips she is not going to touch on that now, that it will be a wait and see issue. She mentioned maybe having to pursue a nerve block(?)
Anyhow, balance wise, she thinks will be helped by equalizing the strength of my muscles so she didn't do much that way yet. She gave me a list of exercises to do each day, they are relitively easy but she said even doing those may exhaust me at first.
So, even though it won't fix all of the problems (some are only fixable by time!) I am so glad to have an avenue that I can focus on!!
I've had an awful time sleeping so I was actually thinking I might take them at night...
It actually did help my neck but I hate feeling like a zombie..
I had valium when I came home from the hospital and was able to get off them some time ago.......u r still close to ur surgery date and could possibly need them...and if they knock u out, try taking them just b4 bed.....it may help u sleep.
Hi
I am going for balance so I will have to be careful that I don't get the same dizziness. I am also going for limb strenthening and toning. I still have a lot of stiffness too around my neck, my shoulders are hunching up and my muscles are constantly knotted so I wanted to get some help with that too. My main goal is to try and get my walking back to as close to normal as possible. My feet are still really weak too, if I am on then longer than 10 mins or so they get tired and I have to juggle back and forth from foot to foot just to be able to stand. I did get some info from the hospital but not a lot....
Another question, do you guys use muscle relaxants for the spasms? I tried it today and it literally knocked me out for two hours and I am still groggy...
I agree to the question what type r u going for?
Is it post op for neck mobility?.....The PT at the Hospital gave me a sheet on what I should be doing....
Hi, I'm not sure of what kind of PT your going to have, but I had PT for balance. It did nothing for me. Sometimes it made me so dizzy that my balance was off the rest of the day. Thats what i went through but you may be different. Best of luck to you.
