Post operative ileus

This may be a useless factoid, or it might help someone:  postoperative ileus is the condition of the stomach motility after surgery.  Mine is taking twice as long to return, even for digestive system surgery.  I wasn't really too concerned, as my stomach was shutting down before surgery; it's more of a nuisance so far, but of course I worry about adequate nutrition.
Anyway, the weird thing is that ileus (the motility) returns in this order:  bowel, stomach, colon
Btw, gum helps as much as anything.

Hi, that is short for pseudomeningocele.
A pseudomeningocele is an abnormal collection of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) that communicates with the CSF space around the brain or spinal cord.
It puffs up like a balloon at the back of ur head near ur incision.

Did u go into the Health pages? here is the link to the page on the abbrevs.-

Many with reflux can attribute it to the vagus nerve and I have no doubt that is some of our issues as well, with the heart palps etc....

Yup, even the pituitary glad gets smashed.....

Oh I know, the MD behind it,....hmmmm just got an idea for a thread : P

It's a wonder any of us alive--the vagus nerve goes *everywhere*, except the adrenal glands.  I see now why we have 100 symptoms if that vagus nerve is squished.

This really  isn't too hard to grasp either, unles you have MD after your name!

More rant coming  tomorrow.

Hi...yes this is a very common issue post op, all the drugs and meds used add to the issues, a stool  softener helps as well as a probiotic to help ur digestive track get back in it's natural balance.

Chewing gum is a great thing to do for reflux as well as it causes the enzymes that break down the acids to form....and many have reflux flares as a result of all the meds and drugs too.
