I was just reading an article about Vitamin deficiencies and saw this-
Body Cue No. 2: A red, scaly rash on your face (and sometimes elsewhere) and hair loss.
The Deficiency: Biotin (B7), known as the hair vitamin. While your body stores fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K), it doesn't store most B vitamins, which are water-soluble. Body builders take note: Eating raw eggs makes you vulnerable, because a protein in raw eggs called avidin inhibits the body's ability to absorb biotin.
The Fix: Reach for more cooked eggs (cooking deactivates avidin), salmon, avocados, mushrooms, cauliflower, soybeans, nuts, raspberries, and bananas.

I have said the same things as I was told over the yrs I was "borderline " for Lupus....and I asked the same question....I have never had the butterfly rash tho...but it was this being in my medical file that my knee surgeon sent me to a rheumatoid Dr for more testing and he is the one that found the Chiari....so I have mixed feelings now about that partial DX....
Oh Dana, I hope you don't have that too!
Have you read up on it? I think--but am not sure--that if the sed rate is off, that could be a sign of something autoimmune going on. But there are so many other symptoms (fever, rashes), I can understand why he said only time will tell.
Thank u both. Go to pcp tomorow so I will mention any tests for lupus. My RA dr said I had traces of lupus in bloodwork but not enough to say I had it. He said only time will tell? He's quacky, lol. Either I have it or I don't, right?!
Dana, some home remedies included oatmeal masks and cold chamomile tea externally. Maybe just any coolness helps.
Going from bad to worse is redness (which can include broken blood vessels), redness & blister-like bumps (that's what I have), rosacea in the eyes, and then one's nose can get large & misshapen. Those are different subtypes, but it doesn't necessarily progress like that.
I did read that a butterfly shape rash should be checked out.
If u get a butterfly like rash or redness it may be Lupus so do go and get checked.,....this is y I asked if Viv's was shaped that way.
Lupus , like Hashimoto's is an auto immune disorder.
AS for rosacea being in the dysautonmia family...I am not sure , I am finding those with EDS have more of an issue, and those with heat intolerance.....I am not sure but will keep looking.
I have autonomic dysfunction and tachycardia. Numerous times a day I get a butterfly redness accross my nose to my cheecks. I hate it but not much I can do about it. I'm on a beta blocker.
Selma- is this from the autonomic dysfunction? Or from my eds?
Selma, I think they consulted their crystal ball or Tarot cards, lol.
I'm going to ask Dr. R. next month what he thinks about testing.
I suppose rosacea could be dysautonomia.
I know what u mean...my skin has gone thru some odd changes....but I was DX'd with EDS so not sure if it is just Chiari or the EDS issues coming into play....
How did they determine no EDS id they did not do testing?
PCP & dermatologist ruled out EDS, but w/o any testing. My skin has never provided sufficient protection.
No butterfly shape.
I've read others who develop new symptoms after surgery--allergies, sinus trouble--maybe they are going to occur anyway.
This is certainly minor in the scheme of things, but I look like a teenager with white hair. 8-O
Vib is the rash in the shape of a butterfly?
Hi sorry I can't recall if u ruled out EDS, as u can develop allergies or sensitivities to meds....so I wonder if it is more a EDS thing??
