Severe headache and whooshing sound

I have Chiari I. Headaches have never been one of my more troubling smptoms. In the past 36 hours, though, I've had a dandy of one.

To start with, my entire left side, neck to feet, started hurting. Then, my neck, shoulder, arm, and fingers went stiff and numb. Not long after that, the headache started. It takes up the entire left side of my head. I do not take any medications other than Tylenol PM. I took 3 last night and they knocked me out but when I woke up the stiffness and pain were still there. Along with the pain, there is a loud "whooshing" sound in my ears. I am having trouble hearing.

I don't have a NS. I am switching insurance providers and it won't take effect until April 1st. Until then, I can't see anyone but my PCP. None of the NS in my area take my current insurance. Saw my neurologist Monday and it was a bust.

Anyone have any advice?

I am sorry you are feeling so bad.  Have you had a cine flow study yet?  My NS ended up telling me the whoosh whoosh was my csf flow blockage.

Haven't had that yet. I won't get in to see the NS until April so until then I'm just kind of gritting my teeth.

What kind of activities have you been doing? (like especially in those 36 hours)

Hardly a thing. I've been moving like molasses lately. Except for a few walks around my yard I've mostly been sitting on the couch or in bed, watching movies with my kids or doing puzzles.

ok. I've definitely read that specific symptom on a Chiari symptom list at one point so I would suggest googling around to see if it means anything. Sinuses, ears, CSF, etc, it's all connected. Sorry I can't be of more help :\
