Let me clarify I took this med post op as a way to control HA's as nothing helped me either pre op....if u have not had surgery I agree meds if they work will camouflage ne new symptoms....or pains...
But most meds did not work for me pre op and this one did only after surgery.....and I know it is for the HA's from EDS....
I hope these comments help.
I was prescribed this medication as well. I have no desire to take it. I sensitive to meds as well. I personally believe most meds do not help this condition, but rather mask the symptoms. My daughter was also prescribed this med and many others along the way for years until she finally had the surgery with Dr Oro. Now it's my turn. If you don't want to take the med, don't. That's my opinion, hope it helps :-) Lisa
Hi, I also have issues with meds as I have EDS and that can affect the way we absorb and utilize meds in our system....
When I was on TOPAMAX I thought my Dr was nuts, as I felt very tired and got more HA's, and after 2 weeks he said TOPAMAX changes the morphology of ur HA and u will feel better....there is a spprox a 2 week adjustment period to this med and he was right ...I did feel better....and when I ran out of the med I felt worse...so I could see how it was helping me.
I am no longer on it and wish I was....it has to do more with $$ and getting to do all the testing every 6 months that are required when on a med like this....once my finances improve I will go back on it.
