UGH! Ugh! and Ugh!

So today was my Ns appointment, and I was going to make my final decision after hearing what he had to say etc. So we get up in the wee hours of the morning, drive 2 hours to the the hospital, walk in and check in and the receptionist states that the NS had an emergency and wont be in...
Thi s is the second time this has happened, the other time, there was a really bad storm (closed schools) and we made the awful drive, only to find out as we were pulling in to the hospital that the NS flight was cancelled and he was in CA and couldnt make it in.  While I know both instances were not his fault...its sooooo very frustrating to go so far, and be anxious and ready for the appt, only to be cancelled. Both my appts were 745am ones. I wish they had better patient communications...sigh...
So I didnt see the NS, but I asked his clinical nurse to upload my disks and have him call when he returned, so maybe we could do a "phone appt" after he looked at my most recent MRI. (this is a different NS than i emailed a couple weeks ago) His clinical nurse didnt think I should have surgery because I had so few symptoms.
But since I was there, just in case I do have surgery, she sent me for all of my pre op tests and labs. So they are done.
Phew! What a day....I am so disappointed, I was excited to finally know...for sure...and now...I dont! GRRR!!
Hope my Chiari Family is doing well..
Hugs
Mazie

Sorry to hear it was such a stressing day.  That is good they did the pre-op stuff just in case.  The phone chat sounds like a great idea to avoid all that travel for nothing.  It is really nice though to have a few minutes to pick the brain of your NS and get real answers to the questions you have.  Making the choice to have surgery is hard unless you can get the best answers possible to all your little and big questions.  I can tell you that I had an emergency surgery last year and NEEDED my NS immediately so I fully appreciate and respect people that lose their appointment. You should know that whoever he was  helping is probably sending you lots of  love!!  Good luck getting your answers!  -zygy
