I've been quiet for a while.  I am having a very difficult time getting my primary care provider to refer me to a neurologist.  I only have a minimal herniation, but so many of the more serious symptoms.  I am getting very depressed.  My doctor still has not called me - the only reason I know I have this is because the nurse called with the results of MRI.  I was told that it's congenital and normal for me and pretty much won't get any follow-up from that office.

Thank you for the info about Dr Adametz. I'm really concerned about my sister. I hope he can help her. She has been struggling for many years and all she gets is it's from her depression. I feel a little better knowing he has been recommended by others with chiari

Is Dr. Adametz a chiari specialist? Did you check him out. I'm really concerned that if he comes back with nothing you will give up. Don't stop fighting we are in this together as sisters but we now have an extended family with all of the others here. They can share in their stories of the pain they fight as well. I feel like a whiner sometimes when I read about them and their struggles and how they can't work and I dread the day this happens to me, and I know it's going to. I want to help them so much however I can. Lets help each other get through this. We will you know and then we will look back and fight for all of those that get diagnosed and can't help themselves. I hurt knowing you are having a hard time financially as well as others on this forum. My heart goes out to all of them that can't come up with the cash to get to their appointments or pay for PT to help them feel better and keep their strength up. Shane said he didn't have an exercise bike at home and that's one of the only exercises he can do. What a small price to pay for PT but a large expense when you have no money to get it. (I don't know what Shane's financial issue is). In this country we should never have to be in this situation. Or to have to go to a doctor other than the one of your choice because insurance won't cover out of network physicians.... OK mI done with my rant and thats another posting... I love you sis....Hang in there....

All of us with this condition feel like u do from time to time....it is overwhelming.I can relate to feeling guilty also...I no longer am working, it's the holidays, and I have no income....my husband has it all on him......I get it too. There r days I want to say forget this stuff and just geta job, then I try and straighten up a bit and I am done for it...I realize I can not work full time, I wouldn't be reliable or productive.....I was in HR, not someone I would add to the payroll!!
I want to wish u well with ur MRI....is Dr Adametz a chiari specialist?
Until then dig deep down, u can find ur fighting spirit.....look at pics of ur kids...that always does it for me.

Everyone here on this forum has also helped me beyond words.Thank you for being here and sharing, it helps all of us feel like we r not alone, we r not crazy, and we deserve to find the right dr so we can feel better!!

Thank you so much for the information you gave me concerning my more serious symptoms.  I've been feeling overwhelmed by everything that is going wrong with my body.  Every day it seems like something else is not working like it is suppose to.  I have auditory hallucinations and will begin to answer or get up and get what the voice wanted until I realized they were not real.  My sis lor124 has already told you about other problems I am having that she is beginning to experience.  I can't work, can't drive, I'm losing my desire to fight.  My whole life has been a stuggle and this is just one more slap in the face.  I'm sorry I'm being so negative.  I've had two episodes since I wrote my sis lor.  and you responded to her question.  I feel so guilty.  I see what all this is doing to my husband and there isn't a thing I can do to stop his hurt.  I know my kids worry too  I will be having an MRI of my cervical spine on the morning of Dec. 5 th and then a Drs. Appt. with my neurosurgeon, Dr. Adametz, that afternoon.  I'm to the point I want them to find anything, I don't care how bad, just something they can treat and help me stop feeling so darn crazy.  Thanks for the shoulder to cry on.  You're the best.

Chiari in a mild form can also produce symptoms that a larger herniation creates....sometimes the larger herniations do not produce symptoms for years!
Chiari 0 is a relativly a newer term...there is no herniation...but if u have copies of ur MRI u can see the crowding....there r areas inside that should have spaces btwn...the crowding causes the CF not to flow as it should and causes headaches and other chiari symptoms.....I would imagine the drs condiser mine  a mild form as well, but when u fall and it causes other injuries that rewuire surgery, I don't consider it mild!
Also keep in mind, herniations can grow quickly or remain the same for yrs....it is because of the symptoms with a mild or chiari 0 that we need a chiari specialist that recognizes that it can affect us just as much as those with a larger herniation.

I hope I didn't ramble and this is a clear message.
