such an exciting idea!!!!!!!!!

so i no most of u dnt no me cause i havent been around in awhile im having a hard time and just had to get away for awhile but im back and want to share an exciting idea i had! so im 18 and graduated from high school and wasunable to go to college like i planned because my health so ive been at home this year while my friends r at school. i had my 9th surgery for chiari and related stuff nov 7th and my next one is nov 29th. right before i came home from the hospital after my first surgery which was aug17 2009 we got a new puppy. this dog is so sweet and i have really bonded with him because ive basically been home and out of commition since we got him so me and him have a special bond more so then my other dog(even know i love him lots too!) and my family members. ever since i was young my mom has told me i need to do something with kids when i grow up because it is something i enjoy. i planned on going to school to be a child life specialist but obviously those plans have been put on hold. so today i thought about one of our stays at the Ronald McDonnald house and how much i missed my dogs and then i remembered the pet therapy which i enjoyed soooooo much so ive decided at least while im at home i am going to work with my dog (whos has been through basic training and did very well) to hopefully become a certified therapy dog! i dnt no if i will achieve this but at least it is something i can work on and maybe help other people with my sweet doggie!
best wishes
molly

You are such an amazing person, you inspire me.  This is an excellent idea.  I actually know a 15 yr old boy that just had surgery a couple of day's ago and the mother posted a picture of him in the hospital and a dog was laying in the bed with him.  She said it brightened his day.  I also have a chihuahua, and I bring her into the nursing home and it just brighten's the peoples faces when they see her.  Animal's are excellent for therapy.  This also keep's you for having something to look forward to.  I don't know you personally, but I am blessed to have the chance to talk to you.  Keep up the good work.  Your a strong spirit and you are already helping other's by your encouraging journey that you have shared with us.  Have a Blessed Thanksgiving.  I'm thankful for you.

Hi Molly. So good to see you back again and that's a really great idea. I work with people with intellectual disabilities and we have a man who brings his 2 dogs in twice a month. My guys in work have very little communication skill. but to see their faces light up when these dogs come in is priceless.  It's so wonderful seeing the reaction. They are Newfoundland Dogs.. so big and clumsy looking.. and sooo cute!

What an awesome idea!!  Children that are sick and away from home really miss the normal things we take for granted. An animal may be the perfect way to calm a scared little one. Animals can always sense things humans cant, and can provide such healing in their presence.  I hope you are able to continue with this idea. I know when I am sick my dog is the only thing that understands and requires no conversation about how I'm feeling.

That is such a good idea!  My dog always makes me feel better so I can imagine how great it would be to share his love with others.  Plus training a dog is something we can still do!
