Just a rant............

Okay so this is just a rant............  no question, I'm just irritated.

So I get an unexpected call from the Neurologists office this morning ( I was sleeping, they left a message) The message said, "Jennifer this is Dr. P's office and we had a cancellation tomorrow and would like to know if u would want to come into the the clinic then"  that's it !!!!!  I was't freaking aware I had an appt..  So I call back and ask for this Jessica gal that left me the message and she said " We have a cancellation tomorrow at 1;30 would u like to come in then?"  and I said in kind of a snippy voice "Why am I coming in? because as I recall Dr. P referred me back to my GP" she kind of giggled and said " Well Dr P would like to go over you results with you"  So I said I would take the appt.  I'm curious as to what he has to say.....  AND then when he dismisses the CM I will say
"OH YEAH, well WI Chiari Center thinks its worth checking into"  teeheehee

I'm just P.O'd!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I mean he dismissed me as FINE and referred me back to my GP for physical therapy and to try a couple of other things if that didn't work..  AND NOW HE WANTS to see WTHeck...

I just don't even know what I am going to say to him...  I'm feeling a lot of emotions, none of which are good and hopefully for his sake they will subside by 1:30 tomorrow!

Thanks for listening folks!!  you guys sure do have great ears!

THANK YOU!!!!!

I'm just disappointed that I didn't say to him "Oh yeah, Well Dr H in WI thinks Chiari could be the culprit and Dr R in SD thinks so too so (and stick out my tounge)!"

I e-mailed Dr. H's office to see about getting the injection thing before my appt in Sept and he asked that I NOT do it just to make sure it doesn't mess with any of his tests that he wants to do...

So I will anxiously await for my appt!

Dr R in SD has asked that I send my MRI to his office so he can look at it before he schedules me an appt..  So, thats good!?!?!?!?!?  I am gonna do that tomorrow!

Well what ur Dr said to u gave me a clue to his schooling...it is all outdated info, he is judging ur chiari on the size by the length instead of the shape and if it is obstructing CSF..I wish they understood that long and thin will not make the issue worse, but short and stubby will....goodness what is the problem they can not think for themselves and only go by what they read in a book.

IMHO this dr is not a chiari specialist...he does not do research nor enuff surgery to have the experience u want for a surgeon.

Having the sleep study is a good thing...and if u want to try the other injection ...then that is up to u and ur insurance....

But y u say u r a whimp...is not u, it is Drs...they have a way if intimidating us like we work for them in getting testing done instead of the other way round...they work for us!!

Don't be hard on urself, and u will learn how to stand up to them even in front of ur kids in such a way ur kids will have no idea nething out of the ordinary happened....

Give urself a break....and understand even when u go to WI, u may want the opinion of one more chiari dr to weight it against since u can not use this guy.

Try to relax and again give urself some slack

So, I go to the NL, that guy...  Oh man............  I just don't even know what I think/feel right now..   I was right!  The reason he wanted to talk to me was because I asked the the radiologist measure the herniation.  SO, he assured me that Chiari was NOT causing any of my symptoms.  Infact, he told referred to another patient he has/once had that only ever got a headache when he played basketball or exerted himself and he had a rather LARGE herniation, nothing like mine, he said..

So, he wants me to do a sleep study, he is sure that because of to the muscle twitching, that is a SURE sign I have some sleep problem!!!!! (I'm going to humor him and do this because I've met my deductable)
AND
he wants me to go to a pain clinic and try and occipital injection which I am totally down for!  anything to get rid of my headache!!!

Unfortunately I had my children with me at the appt and was not able to concentrate on the task at hand..  (my kids are 2 and 5)  and although they were behaving for the most part they were still acting like children and needed to be told to set down and be quiet and so on..
SO I didn't tell him about my appt with the WI Chiari Center, I'm not sure why, I kinda felt like he would ridicule me for it, so I just didn't tell him about it.  He asked me again about my headaches and kept interupting me so I just stopped and let him talk..

UGH, I don't know why I am a very STRONG, OUT SPOKEN person, but  then I get into the Dr's office and I turn into a WIMP..  WTH is wrong with me..  I think part of it, is I typically have my children with me and I can't necessarily give the Dr a hard time in front of them...  I dunno,  I'm just disappointed, and now I'm even more anxious to go to WI, he will prob say the same thing...

thanks for reading

Keep in mind many of the chiari Drs do have the patient start with PT....so it is not a dismiss but a tactic in trying to read what is going on and how it is affecting u.

It is easy for us to get mad, bcuz of all the time we wist to get answers....it is sooooooo frustrating.

Thank you Selma!

I was just talking with my husband!  And I told him that one of two things probably happened here..  He either was looking over my records and "found" something he overlooked from before..

OR

I also sent my information to DR Reeder in Souix City SD and they just wanted the paper records faxed at first... THEN they called and said that Dr R would like to see my MRI's, and as far as I understood it they (Dr. R's office) were going to request my MRI's.  So I'm wondering if because I have another Dr that is interested in me for CM which he dismissed me for..  I dunno!!  I am going to go with an OPEN mind.  I have to!  My kids will be with me......

But, if he called me it to tell me that I am FINE I will be PO'd and I will let him know that it's NOT ok to waste my time or money!  LOL

Hi...I know u r Po'd and upset to boot...but, many times these Drs do not tell us y they send us back to our PCP or to PT....

And that is not a diss many times as we feel it is .....we can expect to hear certain things and when we do not...we r diss'd.

Try to calm down as it will only cause u to hurt more...be open...mayb this Dr has something  of substance to share...u never know.

Go in and listen to what he has to say.....and then listen to WI and compare them.....

I am not saying how u were treated was correct as I am not quite sure what happened....but if he is calling u in, he sees something he may have missed.

And a Dr willing to see u like that is not all bad.
