How do you know if you have a syrinx?

Hi. I have Chiari Malformation 1 with 6mm. I know have been getting numbness and tingling in my left arm and feet. I got very dizzy the other day and felt my body loose balance and I was falling, but I helped myself so I wouldn't fall hard, but still fell. I'm getting dizzy 2 to 3 times a day. I have blurred vision, tiredness all the time, I also fall asleep alot during the day. I have severe neck pain, I feel like I'm waking up and I try to speak and I can't. My

Thank you for your quick responses and always being there for us. I'm waiting to get my public aid,here in Chicago so I can go see a Neurologist. Do you know of any Chiari specialist in Chicago? Thank you.

  Hi...I am sure many of us can relate to how u r feeling and have dealt with many of the same symptoms. What u need to do is find a Dr that is a true Chiari specialist and have more testing...just knowing u have Chiari is not enuff....u will want to know if u have a CSF obstruction...and if u have a syrinx....these are found with MRI...and can develop anywhere in the spine so a cervical , thoracic and lumbar spine MRI will need to be done, these MRI's also help rule out disk issues and tethered cord.
