Thank you for the encouraging update! That's really comforting to hear.
I met the NS today, and I really really liked him. We're scheduled in for surgery on November 8th!

Wow, 11 days and feeling good... That's awesome. I hope you continue feeling better with each day!
i've known that i had chiari and surgery was eventually going to happen since december of 2009. however, the day i was waiting for the neurosurgeons assistant to call me back with a date - i had to call out of work. i was having anxiety attacks off and on and felt sick to my stomach! it's just a natural reaction to the 'unknown'.
but im 11 days post op and am feeling GOOD!! even on the bad days - im still glad that i did it!! :)
Keep us posted on the results of ur CINE!!

Thanks I will Selma. Italked to her office today and I have to have a cine mri first and then she will schedule the surgery. I go for that next wed. I still need the surgery because of the syrinx and she said something about my reflexes are affected so she wants to do it sooner rather than later!
Lisa and thieb9...please keep us posted and do use the list ur surgery date thread so we have one place to look to remember when to post ur prayer thread...and ask a family member or friend to update us here on ur progress : )

Keep us posted on how you are doing.
You will be in my thoughts
Take care

Hmmm... tomorrow I meet the NS who will be doing my surgery. I was told he does surgeries on Mondays, and usually books two weeks out. I'm also hoping to go in the first week of November.
Maybe we'll be cross-country surgery partners!
Lisa
Well, no official date yet but as of right now we are looking at the first week of november for the surgery. My surgeon had this coming monday open, but I need some time to get a few things together first. And I will be having a sub-occipital crainiotomy, with dura plasty and c-1 lamenectomy. (not sure if I spelled those right). I am feeling very confident in my surgeon which is a good thing. She makes me feel a lot more at ease about all of this. (And trust me, I have been to my fair share of NS's looking for the right one).
HI...Congrats!!...it is soooooo normal to be nervous.....freaked...etc....
Just remember what brought u to this point...all the work in finding a dr to validate what u have been dealing with....
Keep us posted

Thanks. I'm hoping it can wait until november. (We do up halloween here). As much as I am freaking out, I do want to get it over with!
just remember all the good stories you have heard and think of how much better you will feel after your surgery!! we all know there are no guarantees, but almost all of us do indeed see a signifigant improvement after surgery!! the biggest thing to remember, is to realllly take it easy afterwards and take the time to recover!!! best of luck to you and let us know when your date is!

Thanks! There are a few people in my area I have talked to that have had it done. Some good outcomes, some bad. I don't have a choice since I have a syrinx that is growing pretty fast. I'm just concerned because I have 5 kids all under 7. I just want to be ok for them!
I'd be freaked too...and think that may be the direction I will be heading after the Nov 4th appt with my NS...Just keep thinking of all the success stories and people who are doing so well after surgery. I was talking today with a friend who is an OT and she was talking about the number of patients she's had post-op and how well they do. That made me feel better! Hang in there!
