Back pain right after Chiari surgery?

I had a Chiari decompression surgery 5 days ago and am having quite a lot of back pain.  The doctor said this was quite normal, just wondering if anyone had this and how long it lasts? Thanks!

So glad it was an easy fix...sounds like you may have to work at it a little while longer but so much better then any of the other possibilities....

Keep us posted  on your progress.

It ended up being tight piriformis muscles!  I sat on a foam roller to loosen them up and I am good!  Phew!

Yes, I do have ringing in my ears, still do...it comes and goes......

Hmmmm since you said you feel it in your gluts....did they rule out tethered cord? That could explain those issues....I have a lot of tail bone/area issues and I do have tethered cord....I also have bowel and bladder issues as well as low back pain, and leg issues....

It feels now more like it is on my gluteus muscles on each side (butt) .  I am a therapist so figuring where the reattach the muscle on my neck  that the other end if it was pulled causing the disconfiort while I get used to the new length .... Honestly I have little neck pain which is surprising ! I haven't taken the norco now for 24 hours but continue the Motrin snd roboxin ( muscle relaxer) ... Just an odd pain as it feels like nerve pain in my butt however doesn't shoot down leg like sciatic pain ...

Hi.....sorry I was not aware you went in for surgery....

What kind of back pain, what area of the back....lumbar, thoracic....???

I do not remember  having back pain.....and with being on pain meds it felt more like I was pain free the first few weeks...but as I cut back on the meds, some pains resurfaced....

What pain meds are you on?
