Glad to hear from you. I hope you feel better soon. My, what an experience!
Hi all! I am two weeks post-op today and am just now feeling able to write a short note here. My surgery was very different than expected, but went well overall. It turned out that my pseudo was not caused by a slow leak in my patch, but rather a tear the size of a quarter. My new NS said he'd never seen anything like it -- my brain was exposed and the CSF was "openly communicating" with the fluid in the pseudo. There were also numerous adhesions, which he spent hours separating (cerebellar tonsils attached to patch, dura, and muscle tissue). He used a lumbar drain for the first week and I spent the first five days laying completely flat -- no exceptions. Not fun! After eight days in the hospital I was allowed to go home. I've mostly been resting. My post-op is this afternoon and I'll get my stitches out. I've developed a feeling of motion sickness and a little swelling, so we'll see what the doc says about that. Hopefully I'll get to keep recuperating at home!
Thank you again for your healing thoughts!
Claire
