At wits end

My 9 year old grandson is always getting in trouble at school.  He is very intelligent...straight A student..on the Principal's Honor Roll...etc.  But he has trouble keeping his mouth shut.  He is way ahead of the others in his class and I believe he is bored.  He tells me he is unhappy and has never been happy.  He says he has no friends and his parents fight all the time.  He was suspended today for telling his teacher to "F off".  What do you suggest?  I am reallty concerned.  He attends church regularly and was recently saved and I am hoping that will help with much prayer.

We have asked about letting him read when he has finished his work...but to no avail.  We have a really bad public school system here.  I will suggest that they get a counselor to talk with him, if they have one.  Not sure about that but worth checking into.

He's probably bored!  He's not a bad kid, he just has too much time on his hands. His teacher needs to give him "enrichment" type activities for when he completes his assignments (i.e., building something, creating something, etc.).  Also, this should definitely be a "red flag" to his teacher that something isn't right at home.  You can call the school and ask that the counselor bring him and talk to him about what he's told you.  They are invaluable sources of help for kiddos going through what he is.  Good luck and God bless!

What would you have done "back in the day" if your son had told a teacher to "F off" ?

DId he do it in front of a lot of other children heard it?

I worked at a school and my child was very nasty to another student in 5th grade- it was highly inappropriate/sexual..... He could take swats or get 3 days suspended. He took swats and never did anything like that again..... he is 17 now and has a wonderful character..... and he went to confession-
