Toddler & the poor kitty's

So for two days in a row my 3 n half yr old son has put small toys in our lil kitty's butts. The one cats butt was pretty bad... I know this is gross, but I saw it was gaping open & all bloody... Took my son awhile to tell me what be put in there. Now this morning he did it to the other cat... Of course I checked cuz she was acting funny & so be it her poor butthole looked a lil funny.. Not like the other cats the day before tho.... So I am really unsure how to handle this. What am I spose to do? How do I get him to stop, to understand he is hurting these poor kitty's??

please get the cats to a safe place; it's unacceptable that they may be hurt that way.

Agreed. Don't leave him alone anymore because it's pretty clear that there is a tremendous lack of supervison here. He isn't old enough to be able to be alone with no one keeping an eye on him. When you see him going over to the cats, stop him, obviously, so he doesn't hurt them anymore.

Your cats are going to be traumatized and will become distrustful and possibly aggressive as a result of being treated this way. Maybe you need to consider giving them away to a loving home where they won't be abused like this.

At 3 1/2,  he knows he's hurting the kitties,  that's why he's doing it.  I can't imagine the amount of flailing and screaming a cat would do in that situation.

Who is supervising him?  This would take a while to do,  and would be a very loud process.  I think the first step is to have him supervised by an adult who is within shouting distance.

You might want to look into whether or not your son has been sexually abused.
I agree, when a child is being abused and don't know who to trust they will take it out on animals, or someone same age or younger then them.....I am a witness to this behavior and please get the child tested.
