Thank you this sounds like a good idea and I'll look for that book tomorrow!
He's a straight A&B Honor Roll Student! Last semester he made straight A's. So I don't know whats the problem. I'll try talking with his teacher again. Thanks for your help.
I would stay in contact with the teacher. See if she posts assignments online or can email them. You might also try teaching him how to keep an assignment book and have him keep a separate folder just for homework. Maybe work up a reward system. If the homework makes it home, so many points, gets done, more points, gets to school and turned in etc. I wouldn't borrow trouble at this point with learning disabilities.Once the assignments make it home you can ***** how he's doing on them. I recommend the book Thinking Organized for Parents and Children by Rhona Gordon. (If he is "loosing" his homework on a regular basis as a way of getting out of it I would make up homework for him to do that is a lot harder than he gets from school. But I'm just mean like that ;-)
to lose his homework and hide his homework notes from his parents -- your question
This would indicate to me that your son is unable to do the work assigned by his teacher. I would contact the school and discuss this issue with his teacher. Perhaps he requires testing for a learning disability or perhaps he requires extra tutoring or perhaps there is something else going on. Whatever - the first place to contact would be the school. Hope this helps ....
