In the same boat

My 8 year old son & my 6 year old son both have the same problem as your children.  They both still soil their pants.  My 8 year old was fine until a few months ago.  We have no idea what is causing him to do this.

My 6 year old has never had an interest in the potty.  We finally got him to pee in the toilet, but he has no interest in pooping there.  I have no idea what to do with them!

Could it be that they both have celiac disease, Chrons/Colitis, or even IBS?  If not I would ask the ped about that?  It could be that the kids have some allergy that is also making this happen, dairy perhaps?  I think that I would explore all of these things.  Good luck with your children.

That's good the teacher is helping, makes a difference..Ask the Doctor if you can try without meds, get your youngest  on a good food supplement, of anti oxidents Vit C and VitB Complex...ask what kind of therapy may help him, sounds like you are on top of it all, not easy I know .

It is very difficult at times.  My oldest is doing much better the past few days, even at school.  His teacher is being more lenient on him & letting him go to the bathroom whenever he needs to.

My youngest is not on meds yet.  We just got the diagnosis a few days ago.  I'm waiting on the appointment to get him in to the dr for the next step.

Thanks for your reply.

Is he on meds yet for the ADD & ODD as there are emotional side effects to some medications .It may be a good idea to ash his teacher to remind him to use the bathroom many times children do not like to ask to go and need reminding .it must be difficult if he just does it in his pants at school .

They both hold it so long & then it has to come out.  I don't know how to get them to just go to the bathroom!  My 8 year old did much better the last couple of days, & his problem the last couple of days is the wiping problem.  So we're working on that.

The 6 year old just goes in his pants.  Even at school if he can't hold it any longer.  He has never had much interest in sitting on the potty.  We did just find out he has ADHD & ODD, so we're hoping when we can get those under control, maybe other issues will follow suit.

Thank you for your response.

Many children do not 'wipe' properly , so that's why they 'soil- their pants maybe show him how and give him wet wipes which may wipe better .Where does the 6 year old poop then ,has he a small potty, if he has remove it so he can only use the big one ,What does he do at school ?
