My lil man is a worry wart

Hello, I'm Anna. My 8  yrs son worries about EVERYTHING. He comes home everyday mad at someone or upset b/c of something he (for lack of better words) stuck his nose where it did not belong.
I gave him a note book and encouraged him to take notes on such things )at home)and think about why he shouldn't be getting involved or worrying before he does. I thought this may help him see that most things are small. and maybe distract him. He is a straight A student who has never gotten a B even.
Ideas please. I want to pick my battles wisely with my children, and i really think this needs addressed.

Thanks anna

Are you a worrier as children do learn form us and pick up out traits , maybe play it down as it may be feeding into it, the notebook is a good idea .

Those who worry constantly about insignificant items or future items to the point where one's life is comprimised are said to suffer from anxiety - generalized anxiety disorder.  Children often begin to display this disorder more noticeably around eight years of age (that, or the parents tend to notice more at this age).

I might suggest you google the term "anxiety and children" or "anxiety behaviors in children" or "GAD and children" or similar words/phrases.  If he does suffer from anxiety, then he may require help in learning how to manage his fears/anxieties.  Do keep in mind that anxiety is not caused from life experiences but usually is a genetic trait he inherited at conception.  Your family doctor should be able to help you.  All the best ...
